Well after a long 150 hours or so - I went ahead and decided to change the hydraulic filter and fluid on my BX.
Being a true believer in synthetic fluids, I went ahead a got 3.5 gallons of the ol' S-UDT2 from my local dealer (another post on cost)
I found that if you remove the left rear wheel, (I think you almost have to) and then pull the screen off, you dont have allllll that fluid coming out at one time in a manner that will splatter every which a way!
I took a five gallon bucket, and after doing the math to find out how much it will hold at 9" tall(5 gal bucket needed to be cut to fit under)- I cut the bucket and placed it under the machine, pulled the screen which was verrrryy clean (to my surprise) ONCE I was assured that the bucket was in the right place, pulled the orange fill stick on the back........now that came out like 3/4" garden hose full blast. I almost panicked when the 9" bucket came up to about 8"......then it petered out.
After cleaning the screen and face - placed it back in - slide under the machine and then reallllizzzed I had NOT taken the #$%#$ under armor off......I am sure that if I had placed the knob to the 1" position - it would have fell, but I did it he hard way and just pulled the pins and that damn shield shot across the floor like a frisbee!
Placed the oil flat container under, pulled that big ol plug, and the filter - drained both - not much there-but some. Replaced both and started to add fluid - it took a full 3 gallons and then a smidge more. Got it to the lower dip stick - added a little more.
Fired up the old girl - and let it sit a minute, then moved the FEL around and took it out the shed,
The reason for this long post .......
THERE is a HELLVA difference.......the almighty whine was, almost not there, climbing a hill, small whine, but after regrading the gravel drive - I could honestly say that the whine was lessened by about 75-90%.
So...............those that want to place whatever in there, do it - those of you that cannot stand that $%$#@# WHINE......I swear the sound it different!!!
Hell my riding gasser lawn mower makes more racket!!!
