I have a Bx25 and I bought a Land Pride post hole digger with a 6" drill to drill some holes for fence posts. The problem I'm having is every time I drill a hole no matter how slow I go, it drills down to fast and by the time I disengage the PTO its to far down and the 3 point isn't powerful enough the pull it back out of the hole. I have to unhook the drill bit and use a high lift jack to get it out.
BX doesn't have a reverse on the PTO so how do you drill a hole with out it getting stuck?

I have never used a post hole borer but I did watch a video on Youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcsHPPJRd5Y

He talks about moving the pin on the boom to the higher hole which gives greater lift force, this one shown is for a compact they do one for sub-compact BX which I don't think has that facility. I don't know if your unit has a series of holes or it is a smaller version for the BX with only one. The video is worth watching.

PTO speed is your friend and constant slow in and out motions with the three point control will keep it from screwing into the ground! ;)

Same methods as with a hand held post hole auger machine. Take very small bites, lift out and a slight more and lift out. I'm in Wisconsin also and they do teach what is meant by each of the three 2's. To, Too, and Two.

by the way the damn BX cheap control for the three point tries to somehow make up for its cheapness by little tits sticking into the slot for the controller. Supposedly if they are adjusted right they say you can inch up or down. It may take adjusting the sheet metal that has those tits on it. That may be your trouble, a cheap controller. What you want is when you hold the lever towards your seat as you lower things it should hang up on one of those tits and the three point should move lower very slowly.

There is also the valve which regulates how fast the 3pt is allowed to drop.
You could keep it from screwing in too fast with that.

I've the same issue after 3 or 4 holes I gave up! A buddy of my told me when the auger gets stuck, fill the hole with water and then lift and spin your auger, it works every time.

When I use my 9 inch auger it seems like it gets stuck every time but my 12 inch auger seldom has an issue.

The problem I have with mine is the auger will grab the ground like a screw and try to thread it's way down. I made this so it only drops about 8" at a time and allows the auger to expel the dirt before going down another 8". It makes it a two many job but it works.

That and don't be afraid to back off and take some stabs with a digging bar or manual post hole digger. Sometimes a couple of stabs with a digging bar to probe a potential post hole spot let's you spot trouble before you get stuck.
