Hi.
I did some searching but did still have a question.

The mower deck will only slightly rise. I laid under the tractor and looked hard at the linkages and all seems to be right.

To get the deck linkage to TOP, I have to reach under and manually lift up on the linkage to get the knob to turn to TOP. When I do that I notice there is still about a 1/2" of space to be taken up in the adjustment link near the rear tire - and that adjustment is already maxed out!

It looks like a longer bolt will solve the problem but that does not sound like the right thing to do - it should be in adjustment without maxing out the bolt that came with the tractor.

I also looked at the deck and there does not appear to be anything wrong there either.

How can the linkage have gotten so far out of adjustment?

Thanks.

Try bringing the deck up just a bit with the three point lever control. That takes the weight off the control knob on the deck. Then turn the knob to Top. and raise the three point all the way.

one other thing if I remember correctly (on my model) is that the rear deck links that are spring loaded would sometimes not be aligned properly. If they were off by a bit it would allow the pin to contact the frame.

Look at your linkage real well. On the top left there is a sliding link. You can see it from near the inside of the L.R. wheel. At the center of that sliding link is a bolt with a jam nut. This is a fine adjustment that allows you to get the deck to raise a little higher; or lower depending on what needs to be done. Be real careful, though, don't adjust while it's running, and I suggest letting the 3ph down when making the adjustment. There's a lot of pressure on that stuff and if you get a finger in there, and stuff goes wrong, you will lose the finger instantly. Also...if you adjust the bolt in TOO far, the deck will be brought up too high, against the stops, and binds up the linkages...which can easily break the links. So adjust a little at a time until you can get the stop knob to go all the way to the "TOP" position.

Mine is maxed out too. I can't lock mine in the raised position either when the 3 pth is raised all the way up with the deck on. What I have noticed is that with the deck off I can lock the lift arms up with the knob , but not with the deck on.Not sure why it's like that.

Like lugbold said.
Check that adjustment bolt.
Mine came out of adjustment.

After arguing with dealer I ordered the workshop manual and found out about the adjustment.

Dirtydeed: I did take a good look at the deck and that link seems to be as it has always been since new.

Ipz: The 3hp is the only way to raise the deck on my model.

Lugbolt: Thanks for the reply…I already explained all that….

Tinker: I think the reason you are able to get the knob to TOP with the deck off is because the knob is not fighting the weight of the deck. When the 3ph is in proper adjustment, it raises the deck slightly beyond the TOP position.

Bxray: Oh yeah, there should be no argument about that…especially with a Kubota dealer. All those adjustments can be found in the Operator’s Manual that comes with the deck, ya don’t even need a workshop manual to learn of those adjustments

Thanks for the replies but the question remains…
There is lots of room in the adjustment link Lugbolt is talking about, but the factory installed fine adjustment bolt is turned-in all the way. It looks like I can just put a longer bolt in place of the factory bolt and the 3ph lever and sliding adjustment linkage will fall near the middle of that link, which seems proper, but I still wonder why such a fine adjustment link can go so far out of adjustment that the factory adjustment bolt will not get it into adjustment – requiring a much longer bolt to make the adjustment???
