Is there anyway to get more loader bucket curl force out of the bx25?
Tonight I buried her bad in mud. I attempted to dig the bucket in the mud, and use the curl to pry me back out. It did...nothing  This has long been a source of frustration for me with this machine. I ended up hooking a chain to a tree, and used the backhoe to pull myself out... barely. It did work though. I just wished I had more force. I have removed shims in the hydraulics and I am running about 2000psi which is pretty much the max that I am aware of.

Ideas? or is this as good as it gets?

Usually you add shims to increase hydraulic pressure. Removing them lowers the pressure. Do you have a gauge to check the pressure?

If you removed shims you lowered your pressure.

Like you though, I wish I had more bucket curl force. My pressure is as 2200.

I bumped up mine a while back from 1725 cold to right at 2000 - made a difference, but the machine is capable of picking up approx 600 lbs off the ground, pushing it through the friction of mud would be asking quite a bit from the ol girl! I too would like more, as we all would!;):)

Bxpanded has tester and shims with instruction works good

Yes, I have the gauge and the shim kit. Its been a while, and I cant remember if I added or removed. I "Believe" that I don't have any shim in and my pressure is around 2000-2200 when I engage the loader valve.

The tractor works good for lifting moving ect, the only issue I have is with the front loader curl force.

Curious on the shims, you would have to add to increase, never known a BX to have more than about 1800 PSI from factory - and the amount of shim is less than a dime to increase 200 more!

the sad thing is - the curl of the bucket IS the most powerful force ON the FEL! If you look at the spec's

Breakout force (at 500mm): 992 lbs [449 kg]
Lift to full height (at pin): 745 lbs [337 kg]
Lift to full height (at 500mm): 518 lbs [234 kg]

I would give Harry a call at BXpanded, he can advise on best practices to optimize the loader functions. He does sell the kits to measure & adjust the pressure. I have the kit but haven't got around to upping the pressure yet.

Good luck and post back if you have success.

I really like my BX25D but the loader is definitely the weak point on these machines. I think the single cylinder for the bucket curl is a design flaw.

Is there room to install a larger diameter cylinder of suitable length? A larger diameter provides greater force for a given pressure. (The downside is that it also takes longer at a given volume)

I've pushed myself out several times. Always nose low, slight twist, and little weight on one rear. Came right out. Never been stuck level and sunk down.

Tell Ya what Bruce. I will make some fried Chicken, Grab some cold Beer (tall boys of course) and a seat. I will throw a $100 bill in the middle of where I got stuck, all you have to do a drive out and get it and use a BX25 loader only to get out :D

Yeah I agree...I've broken the head off the piston off my tilt cylinder twice in 900 hours.

If that bucket will lift tractor front wheels off the ground, you should be able to paddle yourself out (providing you arent in up to the oil plan in loonshite)

I go stuck in the lake, forks on and it was near bottomless. Buried forks rolled all the way forward and rolled back as i gently pedaled into reverse with diff lock on. Didnt need to unpin the hoe. (L4610)

Every stuck is different, all you need is to get tangled up in some tamarack swamp and you will learn quick.
