What happened when it broke? Backdragging with cylinder fully extended?
Or just gave out?

Going into a pile a of dirt, curled the bucket back and POP! Now the bucket slowly dumps on its own.

Sounds like you need a cylinder kit. Might take yours off and apart and take the ram to a nearby hydraulic shop. They'll have the parts you need.

I think that is what is going to happen.

We use a hydraulic shop--actually a couple of them--on certain cylinders that Kubota doesn't offer kits for anymore. Some of the backhoes come to mind, the older ones.

The shops charge MORE than we do to rebuild. Ours? As long as it isn't rusted together, an hour's labor + kit at the most. Usually less than an hour, seldom more.

'Course you could just go buy a new cylinder. The kit is a lot cheaper than a cylinder....

Bent rams aren't uncommon on the BX loaders. Be sure to check it closely.

Check with local shops. The one I use on average only charges me $35-$40 for the seals and they even put them in for that price. I take the cylinder apart and put it back together.

If you heard a POP, then you broke the piston in the cylinder, take it apart and check. ;)

Definitely! When I was doing my steering box, I went to mine for a few o-rings... He said they weren't even worth printing a receipt. I threw him a $20 and we both walked away happy!

And, he thanked me for not having them do the job........ said he hated doing them!;)

Did you check Messicks for parts? They might be cheaper and have more availability if your local is out.

Little update:
I removed the cylinder yesterday. I don't have a spanner wrench and couldn't find one to remove the ring. I also didn't want to use a pipe wrench and mar it up. I did cycle it a few time and didn't feel anything clapping or hitting one any another. Neighbor suggested a place they take all their hydraulic stuff to, I will go there today and just drop it off.

I will. The ol' boy at the hydraulic shop gave me the stink eye when I told him a bad seal. He jiggled it and you can hear stuff rattling around in there. I missed that before. Anyway he seems to think it's doomed and so we're going to find out if they can machine it for less than $465.

The hydraulic shop in my area has some cylinders laying in there with rams about 12"-14" diameter and 15'-20' long. I asked them what they were used on. They said they do all the maintenance for World's Of Fun. I can't imagine what that work cost, with the insurance they have to carry to cover their work.
