Do you mean how do you get the tie rod out of the steering cylinder?
There will be flats on one end of the cylinder shaft you hold it from turning and unscrew the tie rod end.
I had to heat mine with a torch to get the old one out as the threads were frozen. I wrapped a wet rag around the cylinder rod to keep heat from getting to the seals. The flats are only about 1/8” long so I made a wrench by cutting a notch in the end of a piece of 1/8” steel.
This must be a special tool. The slots your referring to are very thin. I only need the outer tie rod end and the dealer sold me the whole thing! That's when I ran in to not being able to unthread the inner assembly out of the steering shaft!
