BX2380 questions.

Was looking at BX1870 online but at the dealership I test drove a BX2680 this afternoon. They have some BX2380's arriving shortly.

Anyway, advantages/disadvantages with BX2380 vs BX1880?

Probably more machine than I need but so what!

What do you think of the BX2380?

Even SWMBO thinks I should go with the BX2380.

Is there any downside other than cost?

Go with what SWMBO wants. Neither of you will be disappointed! You wouldn't be disappointed with the 1880, either, but a happy wife makes a happy life. The 2380 is a great machine.

2380 is a bigger machine. Slightly bigger wheels, more power at the wheels and at the PTO. Can drive with a bit lower revs in many situations.

They're not dramatically different machines, they're the same chassis and the same pumps. But the 1880 is built down to a price, the 2380 is the machine they wanted to build (in my mind at least). The 2680 is the more power version that seems to have more power than traction.

What do you guys think about the Industrial tires (R4)?

I have turfs. The R4 are supposedly a good compromise between turf and ag. And they're very durable - long lasting. If you like your lawn pretty, you'll be annoyed that they chew it up a bit. If you're not that fussy, you'll be glad to not slip and slide in the wet.

I have the 60 series, same tractor just an older Mdl. And I run the R4 tires and love them, I dont know where your from but if its hilly they bite nice if its snowy they bite nice, they do a good job,,, HOWEVER ,,,, if the grass is a tad wet and you try to go fast and drift your beast, they will scuff up the turf,, no thats not true, they will tear it out Slow and easy and your good on wet stuff,, Would I get turfs on a tractor, if it were a golf course or a playing field of some kind yeah but for all around work and use, I ll stick the the R4's

Depending on how fussy you are about appearance quality, closely check out the exact machine you would pick for paint flaws and dents in the hood, and rust on other parts.
Their quality control has gone downhill bigtime since I owned my BX2360.
Some folks don,t care about appearance, but since I wash and wax mine after every mowing, I do, and every time I look at the welding on my hood, I almost puke.
If I would have noticed how bad the finish was on the hood under all the dust that was on it when I picked it up from the dealer I would have cancelled the deal.

As above... they are very similar. My thought is... the "70" is a leftover, where the "80" is the new machine. I would imagine that the 1870 would have the potential of a MUCH better price.

I have the BX1870 with a 48" MMM, FEL and turf tires. It's a great machine for a small property, and helping people around me. I guess if I was using it more "Industrial"... I would want the bigger engine.

One point above that I would disagree with is about the 1870 being a "Price Point" machine. Yes... they removed a few things (arm rests, and the cruise control) to help lower the price... but there is nothing mechanical that makes it a Cheaper machine.

I was in the same boat. I looked at both. My needs are mowing and snow blowing. The 1880 would have been fine but I pushed the button on the 2380. The difference in price was small and resale will be better on bigger motor. I have not gotten the BX yet still waiting- I ordered the 54 inch deck. I think for snow when its heavy the 2380 will be better. Plus i figured you only live once- enjoy

If any of the mentioned models will meet your needs, prolly just comes down to the $$ you're willing to spend.

The 2380 is volume model (& base for the FEL/BH model as well), 2680 has an expensive extra 2 HP, 1880 is the lowest cost entry point. A left over 70 series may be your cheapest new option, pending dealer pricing.

You will likely be satisfied with any of the above, so go with the best "value", not just price.
