First tractor, so I am still figuring how/what/where. I have a winch mounted on a trailer hitch. My idea is to slide the the winch into the trailer receiver that is mounted on 3 point hitch and use that. The only problem is getting power to the winch. Currently I must access the battery compartment to get power. What is the best way to access electricity to the winch without doing this? Surely there is a better way. What type of connection is best? Where is a good place to put this connection? Should I pay the dealer to install? I would normally do this myself but I don’t want the wires getting in the way and I don’t want them getting tangled or interfering with other things or being disturbed by brush or whatever.

Thanks for looking!

Added my own electrical service to BX2370 & B2650. Don't drill into black plastic in rear of BX - it's the fuel tank.

Grey power connector on R.H.S. is mounted on a piece of strap aluminum bolted to frame. Harbor Freight accessories on TSC trailer mover.

I am now embarrassed for and by my trailer mover. 😞
Handy to winch stuff onto trailer. If you wonder why it's long, makes it easier to see trailer connection and to connect to cement filled roller.

That really is a bicycle kick stand, isn't it? Gotta love the ingenuity in here in some of the way stuff gets re-purposed. Is that a trailer, or the aforementioned roller. Tongue weight on the roller would be next to nothing, and that's a great way to keep the hitch outta the dirt.

Yep, can't man-handle a 1 ton+ 4' roller or the BX. Automotive coupler to the rescue. My 6' roller works best on mole hills.

Yes the BX will pull it, larger tractor when I want to "work it"

Getting something to roll is usually the problem, not keeping it rolling, unless of course you stab 6 rippers in the ground. There's always an incident horsepower requirement for that. It's also always fun to find a 4 inch tree root with one of those rippers. I don't think "sudden stop" accurately describes what happens.

I'll bet that thing is great for aerating old growth pastures and hay fields. I also noticed the SMV reflector. They actually let you pull that thing on the road where you live? I can't imagine the racket that thing must make at 25 MPH on pavement.

Use a 50 amp rated 'Anderson Power Pole' connector. Almost 'the standard' for universal power connections. be sure to get the 'boot' covers to keep them clean though.

Thanks that helps a bunch. I will check out that connector. I assume it has dust caps. Would you still attach at same location?

There are holes in the frame for the 3pt side links if you want to lock lift arms in the "up" position, not a concern for me. Longer strip of aluminum can be bent to provide access to the holes if needed.

Purchased my connectors / dust caps from Hyster dealer, should be able to get them off amazon or ebay. The black wire is bolted to frame. Sprayer hose provides a harder insulating layer to red wire and is cable tied to the frame hole I'm describing on the BX.

Are the BX models able to keep the battery charged?

I have used a marine battery to run a winch on my gooseneck trailer without any problems. Building a box onto the rear of the tractor to hold the battery would keep the battery cables short and adds ballast to keep the wheels from spinning.

You're supposed to run engine at high rpm 2K or better. Winch for intermittent pulls, like loading car or other tractor on trailer. If you need to go into woods or area that a wrecker can't access, having winch pre-attached can save you a long walk back home.

Years ago I was using a 2wd tractor and dumping fill material over a ravine. When enough material is dumped that the front tires sink into the fill, the bucket can't be used to back you out. If working alone you need a winch. Can't weld but can use a wrench
