BX2380 2020 with 70 hours stopped moving while mowing yard. Engine runs fine, but treadle does not move tractor forward or backward. HST fluid is full. Dealer service said the treadle rod nut at the ball joint probably came off and needs to be replaced 5/16-24. Any thoughts about this? They said I would probably have to remove the HST filter to get to the nut. Why would it come off? Is there a lock washer or split pin or locking nut to hold it on? I assume I must remove the belly mower and lift tractor to get to it. Your experiences would be helpful here.

Is that a lever available to me while operating the tractor or is it something underneath that could be hit by a rock? I feel pretty sure that I did not. Another piece of the puzzle is that after tractor cooled down, I restarted and with the speed pedal pushed all the way down was able to move it at a very slow speed back to my driveway where it now sits.

First....... get the dealer involved - this should be a warranty fix.

Next - did you do 50 Hydraulic filter oil change and possible fluid change?

In original comments I said that I did call the dealer and was given some advice about the nut on the treadle rod near the HST filter. When you say get the dealer involved do you mean give it to them for repair? I was hoping to avoid the effort of loading and transporting 40 miles and putting it out of service till they fixed it. IF it is something that I can fix easily, I would rather take care of it myself, but I recognize that it is still under warranty and the dealer should be responsible for defects, not collisions or misuse. No, I have not changed the HST oil yet, because I felt that the lawn mowing was light duty. I will do that soon.

should be a smaller lever next to your joystick with a lock symbol on it, I hit mine one time and lost all function, scared the hell out of me. Jiggle it, hopefully will come back to life mine actually rests in the middle of the slot so it's hard to know where its at. I'm obviously grasping straws here

I guess I live in the dark most of my life!

What the heck is a “hydraulic lockout lever” and what is the purpose?

First I heard of such a beast, and I am curious since my son in law recently purchased a BX23S.

No such animal on my B2910 with loader and backhoe.

sorry I don't know the technical term.
Right behind the joystick, "C" shaped pathway for the lever.

I think that is just a mechanical lockout for the FEL joystick. When I mow without the FEL on, I keep it locked to prevent the joystick from moving when I mow past low branches or bushes.

The dealer thought is just this ........... while true a nut that is lose can easily be fixed - the warranty on this machine may require the dealer to look at the entire problem and not just the one nut.

I do get the 40 mile trip - but then again for the money YOU paid for it, THEY THE DEALER should come to your house and diagnose the problem and then determine the course needed to fix it.

I have never heard of a brand new Kubota HST with 70 hours simply stop moving. SO whatever the problem is - I too hope it is an easy fix. And I hope for your case it is a simple fix.

Do report back as to WHAT the problem turns out to be ....... others may have the exact same problem in the future.

I'm thinking maybe '070' or '120' in the picture may be missing ?
A quick look underneath is kinda important. The rod '050' connect the pedal to the tranny. Should be obvious if it's loose.....

if the nut came off, it's an easy fix for a dealer-and kubota pays for it. And-kubota pays them real well for it, enough that they can pick the machine up and deiiver it back to you and still come out ok. That's assuming you're not more than, say, 50 mi from said dealer.

It's accessible from underneath, rh side. If you have a belly mower on it, it has to come off. if it's a drive-over (aka "easy-over" ) deck, the deck needs to come off and the bracket that holds the deck will also have to come off. I hate those decks. From there its just a matter of using one hand to move the pedal back & forth while you follow the linkage. On the transmission end is where the nut usually comes off. 5/16-24 UNF, and use a lock nut on it. Probably not a bad idea to put a little loc-tite on the nut before screwing it onto the ball stud but be sure to tighten it up before the loctit cures otherwise it makes it that much more "fun". I say it's easy to do, but it's kind of in tight quarters back there like everything is on a BX tractor.

Might not be that nut but at least if you can get under it and watch the linkage (engine OFF!!), you'll find your issue most likely. I figure it's either the nut or the ball joint itself.

That is my post referenced in #8. it was exactly what everyone predicted. The nut #70 in the drawing had came off. It is tight quarters if you have big hands, but an easy repair.
