BX2330 won't start

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at a BX2330 with about 500 hours (I've owned it the last 40) and know it was well maintained by the previous owner who i knew.

I had my mower deck on and was going to take it off so i drove it to a spot in my shop, fully driving there w/o issues. Turned the key off and removed the deck. No issues.

now it won't turn over. It feels like a safety switch is stopping the starter from going. Glow lights are on, the mower makes the usual noises when the key is on but no turning over on the starter.

I've checked the seat switch, that i'm not in a drive gear (slow or high) i've got the PTO off, and checked for any loose connections. That's where my experience is at it's end. WHen trying to start i've rocked the pedal, PTO to on/off. Drive to slow/N/High, the position of the PTO, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas what to try next? The battery is new and has a good charge also.

Just for kicks, Check fuses, Disconnect battery cables. Other than that im lost too,

Please double check the model.

BX2330 seems rare to the point of being non existent.

Possibly BX2230...............

I've got a BX1800. Sometimes, my starter gets stuck; mine is probably on its way out. At any rate, I just open the hood and, as I'm turning the key, give the starter a light tap with a hammer to get it moving. Again, nothing too hard, just a tap to get it moving.

Yes I did type incorrectly it's a 2230, sorry. I did a battery disconnect and fuse check right before the first reply but we were on the same thinking. I was hopeful that it would reset something. No luck.

Frustrated I went in for dinner, and came back out to check on things and it started right up. I'm happy but beyond confused. Thanks for the tips anyway i'll keep them in mind. Still learning about this machine but very happy to have it.
