Hello,

I've seen a lot of threads on replacement steering boots, but seems like a lot of them are a little older. Are these boots here good to go? Is there a different option I should be looking at?

Discovered I had an issue a couple days ago. What appears to have happened is the bolts on the right steering rack bracket worked loose some, allowing the steering rack to fall out of place. It then bent the brackets some, and destroyed an inner tie rod end boot. The outer boot on the other side is also messed up.

I have a message into one of the guys that had a even better designed boot for the BX's.

I get back to you.

Wolfman - be curious how you make out.

To the OP - it's been awhile, but seems Kubota parts diagrams don't easily show the P/N for just the boots. I think it's Kubota # K1253-01660 for the inner boots. You will want to double-check that. Now, those Kubota boots do stink for quality.

Seems Kubota P/N that comes up is the tie rod assembly with the ball joints and boots - often don't need the whole thing. Have an acquaintance that spent $300 at dealership to replace the boots, but they replaced a lot of gear they didn't need to. It's really an easy job to do yourself if you get the right parts.

Also, I ripped one outer boot pulling things apart, so if it were me, I suggest having an outer set on hand when doin the inners...just a suggestion...

I bought an inner/outer boot set from Tony here on OTT for ~$20 or so. He was giving a deal for OTT members. They seem to be much better, but he's not here or on ebay anymore that I could find.

Nice, thanks. Tony? I've seen some threads where he was selling them a year or so ago.

I have one inner boot and one outer boot that needs replaced, on opposite tie rods of course, ha. I'll be replacing all four. :)

I ordered mine from Polyboots on EBAY. I ordered two sizes for what I needed & prices were good. Inner boot is 14x34x24 & outer boot is 12x29x24 for a BX

Thanks, good to know there's that option. What's your opinion of them?

I may give him a call. I came across a video of him installing these yesterday.

I believe this part # has been superseded to a new part # for the entire tie rod. My local K dealer only carries the entire tie rod. Also, last time I contacted P. Short after seeing his video on boot replace, Shorts are no longing carrying the replace boots they showed in his video. Maybe this will change down the road.

I got my replacement boots from Botaproducts. OEM ripped in under 50 hrs. After market pair has been on for 100+ hours. No issues.
