I have a 2006 BX2230 that starts to spit and sputter when I put the range selector in gear. The tractor will sit and idle as long as I want. As soon as I go to move it starts stalling. Restarts every time (so far). The fuel has anti-gel and conditioner in it. I think it is a electrical issue but don't know where to start looking

it could be a 'safety switch' problem.....
have you a wiring diagram for it ??
What if you don't put it in gear? Can you rev the engine to full RPM then?

Edit: Do you have a mower deck? How about with the mower deck PTO engaged. Make any difference? Can you get full RPM with the mower deck turning?

I'll second the seat switch! And or the pressure on the seat from you sitting on it.

It is fine in neutral, high rev's or at idle. As for the mower, it won't be back on for 4 months

I grabbed the BX2200 WSM from Kubotabooks.com and IF the BX2230 is the same, seat switch is ONLY in the 'starting' circuit, along with 1 other switch (neutral or pto ?).
This is why it's super important to get a wiring diagram for your machine,as it may or may not have 'stuff' we post, OPC is the 'Occupant Presence Computer'... the 'black box' that decides IF the engine will run based upon inputs from switches connected to it'

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at that site

Interesting. My BX2200 does not have a seat switch and never did. Bought it new. Over the years I have read that kubota will run out of parts for a model that is ending, and change things on the older model as required to produce the end of the run, using item from the next model to be put out. Maybe this is another example. Pretty sure the last B2910 units produced included an OPC, which my B2910 does not have...I guess this observation is of no help to the OP however.

Just trying to understand the situation. So if the tractor is in neutral, you can rev the engine to maximum RPM as you would when mowing, without issue, BUT if you put the gear lever in either H or L range, then you cannot rev the engine to full RPMs? With the directional pedal centered naturally.

Or probably more likely you mean when you push the directional pedal the issue appears. You may have explained this previously, but although I have read every post, I don't remember if you did.

hmm...parking brake on ???
silly, easy test.. place range lever in neutral and you PUSH the tractor..it should roll easily. If not, then eother hte parking brake is engaged or something else is wrong.

I've looked at Kubota's Part's Finder to see how it's made, more or less, and there's no way putting the range lever ( lo-nu-hi ) into lo or hi can affect the engine speed. It's connected to the gears in the tranny...
'Motion' requires two factors, 1 range lever in either lo or hi AND pedal pushed fwd or rev.
