Does anybody know what controls the voltage to the solenoid on my BX2230 fuel pump? I used to hear it de-energize with a delayed click when I would shut down the engine. Now it doesn't energize and there is no voltage to it. Engine starts and runs ok. Is it supposed to be energized whenever the engine is running? What is it's purpose?

Keep in mind that the fuel pump and injector pump are two different things.

On my BX2200, the model previous to yours, there is an electric fuel pump and a fuel cut off solenoid on the injector pump.

I believe, but am not sure, that your model has an OPC which controls the fuel cut off solenoid. OPC stands for Operator Presence Controller, or something like that.

It sounds like you need to get a workshop manual and see what the electrical diagram tells you.

You might be able to download one at kubotabooks.com. Not sure but worth a try.

Someone with knowledge of your specific model may speak up in the meantime...

Thank you for responding Henro.
I did a little more troubleshooting and discovered that I might not have a problem after all. I put a test light on the lead to the solenoid and have found that there is voltage to it only AFTER the switch is turned OFF, and only for about ten seconds. I'm not sure yet why it is designed this way but would like to know. On my model my electric fuel pump is mounted under the tractor and not up under the hood.
I imagine an OPC is related to, or is the same as, a seat safety switch, correct?

The OPC has different things connected to it including the seat switch. The OPC generally (if the tractor has one) activates the fuel shut off solenoid. There are at least two schemes of control for a fuel cut off solenoid.

On my BX the fuel cut off solenoid is energized the whole time the tractor is running(key is in the on position). When it is deenergized the tractor will not run. On other tractors and probably yours, the fuel cut off solenoid is energized for a short time when the tractor is turned off.

From your description it sounds like everything is normal. In my case when the fuel cut off solenoid failed my tractor would not start. It sounds like in your case if the fuel cutoff solenoid(or circuit) fails your tractor will not shut down.

Jonathan, your stop solenoid is operating correctly for this model. It is energized through a timer for about 10 seconds when the tractor key is turned to the "off" position. If that solenoid fails (as it did for my neighbor) the tractor will not stop running when the key is switched to the off position. I showed him how to carefully push the solenoid plunger in by hand or with an object until the tractor stops running. A new stop solenoid had his tractor back to normal. The safety switches each provide an input to the OPC controller for the proper safe operation or shutdown of the tractor. It is a black box maybe mounted under the dash and full of that "magic smoke" that you need to be careful not to let out! :)
