Im thinking about buying an bx2200. Is there anything they had problems with this model? Is it a good reliable machine? I will use it for mowing and snow removal and maybe tilling down the rode and some fel work also.

I can't speak for a BX2200, but I do know you'll be more then pleased with a Kubota no matter which model or year you choose. These little suckers are built like an Abrams tank, I think if some Kubota's had track's on them they'd probably beat most tanks. I own an older B6100E its 14hp and I get blow away with the kinds of thing's that little slice of heaven can do. Just wish I had a front end loader so I could do a ton more.

My 2001 BX2200 has had only minor problems. Some of these have been fixed in newer BX22xx with upgrades.

Fuel tank sending gauge leaks. Kubota has come out with a couple of different fixes. It is a gasket issue. Fuel out, water in.

The air cleaner clamp will vibrate until it snaps from metal fatigue.

The front tires tend to leak from the rim.

Brush can get under the tractor and break the plastic transmission fan. Many $$$$$ to take apart the tractor to get to the fan.

The switches on the dash are very water sensitive and will short out.

The hydraulic pump is not very robust. Running a FEL requires high RPM and not simultaneously using the HST.

Weight on the front or rear will cause the other end to get light. For example, a Bush Hog style mower will make steering a problem unless a front counterweight is used. There is no problem when it is on the ground - just when transporting.

There have been reports of hydraulic hoses deteriorating but I have not personally experienced the issue.

At low RPM the BX vibrates quite a bit. It smooths out at higher RPMs but there is no tach to say specifically at what speed.

The PTO requires WOT to make the 540 RPM necessary for some implements.

Overall, the tractor has been very reliable and useful. It may be a bit small for serious snow removal but others will have to comment on that.

zr600, I have a BX1850 (little brother to your possible model) and I am almost unhealthily attached to this little machine. We have about 500 yards of driveway to clear, a decent sized garden to till, and 2 acres of actual lawn to mow, not to mention our forest trails that we keep mowed in the summer. Our machine is the perfect size for what we do, but a couple extra HP wouldn't have been a problem either. This is just the one that came up on a good deal at the time.

The only issue I had was with the LF tire having a bead leak, which a tube solved for only a few bucks.

If you can get one on a good deal, BUY IT!

Hey there.. I'll be honest with ya, like anything in life, how the other guy before you treated the machine will greatly effect the level of problems you may encounter with a Kubota. That said, even with limited maintenance beforehand I've found our BX2200 to be a great little tractor. My partner and I regularly use it to mow 10+ acres of runway and field strips, tow planes, haul sprayers and it does its job perfectly. It runs stronger, longer and smoother than our newer New Holland. While it does need occasional maintenance.. the repairs are fairly straight forward and the dealer seems always willing to help as much as they can. I'd recommend a Kubota to anyone.. hands down the best tractor I've ever worked with.

In my experience, Kubota makes good stuff. Like any machine, people can have problems and people can cause problems. How good a bx2200 is depends a lot on what you are using it for and the attachments you use. It doesn't have the weight or power to drive a big blower through heavy snow or a big tiller through packed rocky soil. I have a middle mount mower (works great) and an FEL, which is sized for the tractor. I have a bx2300 with industrial tires - but my neighbor has turf tires and all kinds of trouble with traction.

So, its a great machine and I don't regret the purchase. It is, however, a lawn tractor on steroids, so don't pretend it is an L3010 or bigger. Even My L3010 hesitates its you over do it. Then the M9000 comes out ...
