I've been having a problem that has gradually increased over the last week.
1. My BX2200 suddenly stopped while driving across the yard. The engine would turn over but stop when the key was released.
2. The 20 AMP stop solenoid fuse was blown. I replaced it. The tractor would drive for another few minutes, then repeated step 1.
3. After searching on various forums, it appeared the stop solenoid was a potential issue. I replaced it. The tractor would drive for another few minutes, then revert to step 1.
4. Looking at the fuse box, I noticed it was dirty. I cleaned it up, replaced the fuses (although these looked OK, but they'd been in the tractor for 14 years). Tractor started and stayed running so I could complete some work around the yard. Started the next day as well, did more work, then ... back to step 1.
5. Replaced the 20 AMP fuse, got another hour out of it ... back to step 1.
6. BUT now the 20 AMP fuse blows immediately on going to the first stop on the key. This is new. It would at least start and run for a few minutes before. I can hear it pumping fuel, and at the second stop the glow plugs appear to work. At the third stop the engine turns over. On releasing the key, the engine stops. The lights on the panel are working. Replace the 20 AMP fuse, repeats the same scenario. Other fuses are OK. I unplugged the stop solenoid and the 20 AMP fuse still blows. I keep it in gear and turn the key and the 20 AMP fuse blows.
7. Incidentals that may or may not be meaningful: The front headlights stopped working at some point, but I don't know when as I use them so seldom. Believe it was recently. My tractor has a cab with a small heater. The heater fan stopped working this winter. I do not have any kill switch safety associated with the seat. I bring these up as potential electrical complications. All other lights, wiper blades, etc. work.
Anybodys thoughts would be welcome. I'm really hoping to not send it to the dealer ...
