Newly joined to the forum, been a lurker for some time, thanks for all the help, info, and ideas so far.

I have a new to me bx2200 with a 60” MMM. The issue is that the MMM only engages when it wants too. If you find the perfect spot with the selector lever and flip the pto lever it will engage.... sometimes. I’d say once out of fifty times.

i need to do the sending unit leak and I cant really use the MMM with the lack of getting it to engage reliably.

Anyone have an issue like this? Rear pto will engage anytime I ask it too. And seems to engage every time I put it in the middle (both) position as well.

I’m guessing internal issue. But before I break it apart I figured I would ask for the variety of input I most likely will get here.

ideas, thoughts, suggestions! Thank you!

I'm not familiar with your tractor.. but if finding the right spot will engage the mid pto sounds like your pto selector may need to be adjusted. Especially if engaging both makes it work all the time

I would find a schematic that shows how the pto is driven and engaged, if it is driven by hydraulics or gears it makes a big difference when trying to find the problem..

Could be driven by hydraulics through a clutch for each pto but could be driven by hydraulics and a valve that turns on each pto.. so you could have a worn clutch or valve out of adjustment or a worn out valve leaking not allowing it to power the pto when just the mid mount pto is engaged

alot of ifs..

Thank you and correct you are tractorjoe, there are a lot of ifs.

a few comments;
-I have inspected the lever but on this tractor there does not seem to be an adjustment that I can see.
-pto selector seems to be most likely to me because of the fact that it engages sometimes and sometimes does not. However... being as it’s a new to me tractor I am not sure how the selector works.
-I would love a exploded view of these parts and valves, but so far have mainly come across operator manuals. With kubota so far... my experience is that there is not as much widespread information on the parts supply and diagrams. I might be wrong here. But so far it seems harder to just use dr. Google to find.:)
-I have not unmounted the MMM and played with the shaft to see if I can engage it or disengage it while the tractor is off. I have two reasons for this. 1. I Don’t understand what doing this would diagnose? I know it engages sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t... so we know that it can work. It just doesn’t consistently. I might be wrong of course... but wouldn’t I come up with that same information by hand? Sometimes yes or sometimes no? If it engages every time by rotating the pto by hand... what would this indicate is wrong? And 2. I am currently living overseas. My tractor is not. :p so I’m collecting parts, information, and test procedures if I can to attack this issue on my next visit :)

I’m rather ok for a mechanic, was trained by old timers who went through basics with me. I’m not much of a computer diagnostic guy... But this is my first kubota tractor. No major computers of course. But valves and switches and components are rather different then riding mowers, push mowers, and trucks/cars. :)

I can rip the whole thing apart and sort it out... but im really hoping for some direction before that :) all these ifs are helpful. thank you!

I welcome more thoughts to research or learn about with this new orange little beast.

I neglected to add that parts diagrams can be very helpful, especially with linkages. They will also have CURRENT parts #'s if needed, whereas manuals maybe outdated.

Here's Kubota's USA link.

There is a Canadian site too.

If you don't have one, get a Workshop Manual (WSM) for your BX2200. It might help with your PTO engagement.

Looks like a free one here:

This site also has some WSM:

Thank you! This is helpful info! I have spent time searching google. But in the first three replies I have gotten more help from OTT then my time searching! :D

THANK YOU!!!
