I am at witts end with my fuel solenoid. I have wired new solenoid to battery to test, works all OK, ie pulls in on 12v white cable holds in on 12 volt black and red. then plugged into the tractor the start coil works but the hold coil does not, tested hold coil wire and it is getting 13 volts no problems but hold coil still not working, so run a temp supply to the red black cable from battery, still not working. Tested red black cable from ignition connection to solenoid and it is showing 0 to 1 ohm. Someone mentioned cables below seat was the issue for them so, removed seat, found some unused connections (1 x 0v and 1x 12v) but nothing apparent that had pulled out of them. Also purchased new battery and new ignition barrel (both were needed anyways).
Now tracing red black from solenoid and it ducks under the deck of the tractor and goes toward rear, this is contrary to the wiring diagram which says it comes directly from the 20 amp fuse that the ignition barrel feeds.
Just removed the cutting deck so as I can get under the thing to see where the cable pops out, could not see and red cable with black tracer anywhere at the rear of the tractor ir under the seat (no seat switch the i am aware of). Anyone have the slightest clue as to where this red black cable goes? There is a red black coming off of the back of the 20 amp (top) fuse but is of a bigger diameter than the one feeding the solenoid hold coil.
A cording to electronical schematics this wire also feeds a working light, anyone have any ideas where this may reside?
Thinking I may trace the red and black from the cold side of the top 20 Amp fuse (which according to the schematic is the wire that should be feeding the solenoid and splice in a new wire to feed to solenoid andand remove the wire that disappears the back of the tractor.
And i thought landrover defenders were a mare to work on.
Any help greatly appreciated.
