Recently I had trouble with my BX2200 losing power, running rough and almost stalling out. It started every once in a while and then worsened to the point I really couldn't use the tractor. After researching the issue and following numerous suggestions (which I appreciated) I changed both fuel filters, replaced the fuel pump, blew air backwards through the fuel line towards the tank, used water displacement and fuel injector cleaners etc. and unfortunately none of that fixed the problem. Ended up being the seat safety cutoff switch. It was going bad and made the tractor think I was getting off of it while it was in gear which in turn would start to cut off the fuel. Never actually stalled completely but close several times with black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Anyway, changed out the switch for about $8 and 2 minutes and everything is back running like new. I just wanted to share as I saw other guys experiencing the same issue when I was researching the issue and hope that this may help anyone experiencing the problem in the future.

Thank God your safety switch gave its life to make you safer. God knows how many people used to die each year trying to drive while sitting on the fender or the hood before those switches began saving lives.

Great to hear you had a happy ending and thanks for sharing about the simple fix. My L3800 had a similar symptom and I could not duplicate it when it was at the dealer. Of course I couldn't! :)

Do this at your own risk. I installed a switch that will bypass all the safety switches. Normally it is in the off position so that all the safety features work, but in cases such as above, the bypass feature could be used to quickly rule out safety switch failure. Also when snowblowing with a front blower, engaging this feature allows me to get off the tractor and see if the blower is operating normally.
I really don't want peanut gallery comments on this from the safety police.

The only safety switch my Ford 8Ns had was the common sense of the operator and that was always faulty, came from the factory that way and no fix and no recall scheduled until judgement day.

I was pleasantly pleased when I bought my BX2200 to find out that it DID NOT have a safety switch on the seat. I would have by-passed it anyways, but these are diesel tractors. I don't need to stress the engine from restarts all the time. Glad you got yours fixed.
