Howdy guys, new member to this forum and glad to see it exists.

I've recently signed on with an airfield and we have an older BX2200 that we use to mow the strip and surrounding fields as well as pulling duty as a part time tug and mobile sprayer platform.

Two problems.. the first more important immediately than the latter. This unit has a direct switch wired from the starter to the shut-off solenoid. Well the switch wasn't completely turned off after start up and the wiring burned up everywhere it was connected. Unfortunately I'm trying to get them to buy a parts manual and WSM, but no luck yet due to..$$. Does anyone have or know where I can acquire.. a wiring diagram so I can attempt to re-wire this thing correctly instead of the piecemeal way its done now?

The second issue is over-heating. We cleaned out the screens, drained, changed and tested the radiator, cap and lines to and from the engine. i also pulled the pump to inspect it for damage to the fins and any hesitation on rotation, but everything seems in good order. That said.. every other time its used it overheats. I'm beginning to think the pump.. despite its good spin and fins.. might be bad. Any suggestions?

Alright Vic, thanks. I'm gonna go back and follow your flow chart.. check each thing off and then see how it goes.

Someone asked the temp.. I cant give you a number as it just has a black bar with red at one end for the gauge.. but it rides right up to the red line within 20-30 minutes of start up, then slowly builds over the red line in a couple minutes if left running.

Oh and I found the operators manual hidden away in a drawer in the main building, so maybe there is some hope after all.

Thanks for all your help guys, I'll let you know how it goes.

My BX2200 overheated and I cleaned the screens and it didn't change anything.

So I carefully hosed the radiator - it was packed with dirt, grass, etc..

Problem solved

Well we got the wiring solved. Rewired the whole system with new aviation wire and stackable fuses. Put in a push button ignition due to the ignition on the tractor being the problem to begin with apparently. Seems the old mechanic just wired around it and left it.. and since they didnt want me to buy a new keyed ignition, just built one with a push down momentary switch.

As for the cooling.. seems to have gotten better now that we followed Vic's flow chart. I'm getting some weather stripping for the radiator to shroud it in this week. Also, I blew out the radiator with water.. seems it had alot of grass dust/dirt in the fins that came out when we reverse washed it. Runs cooler now.. seems to idle and run smoother too.

New issue came up over the weekend. We filled it to the top with fuel and then parked it in the hanger, came back today and the left rear tire has fuel all over it. Seems to be leaking.. I was told it does this whenever its filled past half and left to sit. Anyone have this happen to theirs?

Very common problem. The fuel sending unit gasket leaks. Kubota has gone through at least three revisions to try to get it fixed. My BX2200 has gone through all three and the last one actually works. No more leak.

Be careful about getting water under that left fender before the gasket is fixed. Water will get into the fuel if a pressure washer or a hose is stuck under there to clean up the spilled fuel.

The gasket is cheap but getting to it is a tussle. Make sure the fuel float does not hit the side of the tank when reinstalling the apparatus. It will stick and not register over 3/8 tank.
