Also, the wiring colors specified are different on my tractor versus what's on the diagram, particularly for the fuel solenoid, and the installed harness and solenoid have only 2 wires versus the 3 specified for a D905 engine; there are no missing connections on the connector to the solenoid so it's not like it's been modified.

I believe I have run into this several years ago that some high serial number BX2200 actually have BX2230 electrical harness and components on them. Your serial number and the 2 versus 3 wires kind of rang a bell as to why a tractor that should not have a Timer-Relay has one.
The BX2230 does not power the fuel solenoid until you shut off the key, then it is power for 5 to 8 seconds to push the fuel rack to the OFF position.

So that is a timer in his picture. So which fuel stop is on this BX. The top picture is like the one on my ZD that has the stop timer. The bottom one is what my BX22 has. My ZD timer has about a dozen wires to it and looks nothing like his picture. I suppose the ZD is different due to the many safety switches involved.

A ZD, depending on the model does not have a separate relay/timer, it is built into the logic module.

That is true. I had to replace mine. I think you have solved the mystery of his BX.

Very interesting! Who would have guessed that the OP's BX2200's electrical system is actually very likely non standard, and apparently the same as a BX2230...

I worked on MG B cars, the model year had little to do with the components and wiring. When they ran out of the '76 wiring they used a '77 harness even though it was still a '76 model year. Makes things interesting! Looks like maybe Kubota is doing the same.

I also worked in a test department on computer stuff. The guys that just swapped stuff until it worked got more boards out per day but couldn't do the 'dogs'. That's when the real trouble shooting worked. So the quick ( and more expensive) method is to just swap stuff. The when that fails break out the trouble shooting ( I always referred to an oscilloscope as a little green TV with squiggly lines )

whitetiger, I owe you a round if I'm ever in KS. Thanks very, very much. The 2230 manual matches my tractor precisely. I don't suppose you have a test procedure for the "blinker module" handy?

I ran the solenoid and timer tests and both worked as designed, which is great.

Inside the wire loom running to the solenoid there was a burned wire (looks like at one time it met the exhaust manifold) and was making intermittent connection, so I didn't find it when I rang the wires earlier. Second check this time with different tension on the wire found it. Working as designed now! That leaves just the lights, which I'll get to sometime in the future.

Is it possible the blinker switch got wet?
On my BX2230 when I bought it, it had set outside for a couple of weeks, the blinkers were not working correctly. Pulled the switch and took it apart and it had water in it. I dried it out, reassembled it, and haven't had a problem since. The electronic blinker unit gets confused if there is just a tiny bit of current between some of the contacts because of the moisture, and acts weirdly.

I am glad the schematic helped you solve your dilemma.

Several years ago when I ran into this same BX2200 with BX2230 wiring, I remember discussing the engineer's family linage back several generations, it included Yaks and goats. Then, out of desperation, I looked at the BX2230 WSM and BOOM. There was what I needed.

I am not sure if they ran out of the BX2200 harness or if they are pre-production, who knows. I didn't think I would ever hear of another one. I now wonder how many more there are out there??
