BX22 Air Filter Housing Question

Has anyone with a BX22 come up with a permanent fix for the air filter housing support bracket that bolts to the top of the engine and keeps breaking because the engine vibration at idle? I try to remember to keep mine running enough above idle to smooth the vibration out but that doesn't always happen.

I'm not familiar with your model of tractor. Post a couple of pictures of the area in question. Maybe someone can come up with something.

Yes, after replacing mine approx 4 or 5 times (on BX23) I gave up on the damn bracket and lashed it down with a strong bungee. Seriously, never had a problem after that.

Same here, on my BX2200 got tired of the bracket breaking & used a bungee cord to hold it down. Been on there for years now.

Bungy cord fix to damp vibrations.. been on there for 4-5 years, no problems.

Hah, just came across this. I just popped the lid yesterday to do a routine fluid check and found the bracket was snapped. Upon closer look, is seemed that the previous owner welded the portion that bolts to the engine as well

. I like the idea posted by someone where they bolted the air cleaner to the top rail.

If you keep your engine RPMS above 1300-1400, the engine will vibrate a lot less and not break the brackets. Had that problem on my BX2230, welded up the OEM bracket, watched the RPMs and it has been good for the last three years.

Replaced it twice, then strapped it down with a big wire tie strap. No problem after that.

I took the two ends of the broken strap, bent them backwards, and used a piece of rubber bicycle tube to hold them together. That was quite a few years ago, after several different attempts at a fix.

Just checked it recently and it is still holding up fine. Poor man's solution to avoid the expense of a bungee cord!

I've always hated the low rpm vibration so as soon as its started I idle up. My BX22 bracket has never broken. Not so lucky on the ZD mower though. I've welded it back together twice so far. BX was bought new. ZD was used .

After making a stronger solid mount bracket that eventually failed just like the OEM one did on my BX2230, I did pretty much the same thing using some inner tube rubber and aluminum stock to secure the air cleaner and still allow it vibrate. Didn't look too pretty but never broke again!

Keeping engine revs up helps but there's still lots of vibration.
