Hi,
Im taking delivery tomorrow of a 2020 BX1880 tomorrow from Chappell Tractor. :). I ordered it with a block heater, but Chappell wasn’t able to get one, so it’s being delivered without it. I’m planning to just install one myself, but I’m finding it a little frustrating/confusing to source one because there are different options about the correct part #’s. Both Chappel & Messicks have told me that I need part #77700-09703 which goes for about $300, but other places like Coleman Equipment say that part# 70000-73595 ($51) will work on my tractor. Here is the link to their page for that part:

Anybody have a BX1880 and have some info/guidance as to whether or not I really need to spend $300?

Thx,
Greg

I have the block heater that Colemans has recommended in my BX22, and the only thing that is difficult about installing it is that you need a 22MM Allen wrench to take out the threaded plug on the right side of the engine. The plug on my BX22 is just to the left of the mid point of the engine center line on the right side. Just a little above the oil filter and to the right. You need to look at the engine to see if they have changed the block and eliminated the threaded plug. If the only other choice is a $300 block heater, I will use a magnetic one on the oil pan before I will pay that outragous price. Here is a video of installing a block heater on a BX2380 tractor... It is part#70000-00776 and is a push in heater, as opposed to the one on my older BX22 being a threaded heater. Cost is $88.71 on the Messicks site.

The BX1880 has a D722 engine that does not have the threaded plug in the block. The BX22 has the D905 engine, which has a threaded plug.

I just went to the Messick's website, and click on BX23S (https://messicks.com/wiki/kubota/bx23s), went to Frequently Used Parts, and it shows block heater Part #70000-00771 for $93.36 with 0 in stock. It also shows that the part number replaces part# 70000-02968 (0 in stock) & 70000-00776 (0 in stock) are obsolete part numbers. When I started writing this post, the 70000-00771 had 2 in stock. I guess that the people following this thread, bought them both.

Why did you choose to put your block heater in the sealing cap and not the frost plug?
How long have you had it installed and how often do you use it?
Thanks.
Kevin.
