I own a bx1870. Which I now know should have tire sizes as follows...16x7.50-8 fronts and 24x12-12 rears, but it was sold to me with 18x8.50-8 fronts and 26x12-12 rears. No big deal except that the fronts contact the fel mounts when turning. I tolerated the issue but now one of the fronts has failed (unrelated to the contact issue). So my question is can I put 16's on the front and keep the 26's on the rear without destroying the drive train? I know it's a big no no on 4x4 automobiles but what I don't know is how it relates to these tractors. It is never operated on asphalt so there will always be slippage. Anyways I am fairly sure what the consensus will be, but I thought I would ask. This is my first post on here. Thanks to all in advance.

Something is not adding up here! Why did your 18 come with a set of 23/26 set of tires? Special request or dealer mix up? What tire package R4's

And no don't mix tire packages, unless you want to buy parts.

Yeah dealer mix up. I know that now, but I was uneducated about the 18 being a slightly smaller frame. Yes they are r4's. I want ag's anyways. So I think I am just gonna pop for a whole new set. They are $310 ordered from otrwheel.com.

Those as you found out will not do so well! If you have a 54" mower they will clash with the gauge wheel brackets when the deck is near the top of it's travel.

So just to follow up. I bought a set if deestone d407 16x6.50-8 at lug tires and a set if 8x5.375 trailer wheels. Once mounted these tires measure a 1/2 inch shorter then the 18's that where on it. They give just enough room to keep from contacting the loader frame and I believe will keep the front and back ratios close enough to keep from causing damage. I am going to put it to the test. If I let the smoke out of the tranny I will report back. On a side note the trailer wheels had to be mounted backwards in order to fit. But they worked out very well.

I am a bit confused the dealer had the wrong tires on the tractor, and YOU had to buy new tires and wheels?
