I have a new (less than 50 hrs.) BX1870 compact tractor and am having three blade related problems. First, I can no long get the blade to go down on my tractor even when I move the blade lowering lever to the down position; second, I can't turn the blade height adjustment lever in either direction. I have tried as hard as I can but it won't turn. I am afraid to put too much force on the knob for fear that I will damage it in some way; third, earlier, when the blade would still go up and down, I was unable to get the blade to stay up in the highest position. The latter has been a real pain because when I am doing work with my front end loader and not using the lawnmower function the blade keeps dropping down requiring me to stop to raise it before it is damaged. BTW, I am very much a non-mechanically inclined city slicker, so any help I can get would be most appreciated.

Look at the seat between your legs, there should be a knob that controls the speed that the 3 point hitch comes down, just maybe you have it turned to far one way .

The knob can be a real PITA sometimes.......Wrap a rag or something around the knob - and see if you can move it - or get a pair of large channel locks and place them over the rag and give it a twist.

Sounds like you have a linkage problem, trace all the connecting points and see if something has come a loose.

Report back!

1870 should still be under warrenty yes/no?

The knob that controls flow rate woudn't prevent you from moving the lever back and forth it would just stop the lever from moving the 3pt so I think your problem is deeper than just a flow control issue.

I'd bring to the dealer. Sounds bad, not just an adjustment thing. That up-down lever is nothing more than a control of a valve for up or down. It will not work like a "standard" tractor draft control (cheap stuff there) to position the blade.

Try pulling the deck up until the pump sqeeeeels then try turning the adjustment knob, there is numbers on the knob face turn it toward the lower numbers clock wise I think

Had same issue on mine. Have up, turn that PITA knob to a 2 and try to lower back down then. I marked mine around 2 and 3 for plowing, tilling, snow removal with FEL and mowing grass.

Had a similar issue with my BX2670.

Pull the deck up to its highest position and holt it there then turn the height adjustment knob clockwise only.

That's what my dealer advised and it worked.

Sorry, I can't find it yet, but my neighbor had the same problem with his new BX. We couldn't turn that mower height knob. He searched the forums and found a fix with a diagram. It was something underneath that had to be set up.
If I can find it I will post.

Another post on a similar thing brought up the different knobs. The one you want to turn counter clockwise is on the right side from center with horizontal shaft. The one to the left of center with vertical shaft and numbers on it is for mower height. Usually I can't turn that knob unless the three point is to the top and then only clockwise,.

Thanks to all of you who were kind enough to offer advice and suggestions. I read the post ItBMine provided and appreciate him going through the trouble to find the earlier post that his neighbor was able to use to correct the same problem I'm having. I will give it a try. For those like me who aren't real good at this type of fix the better course of action is to take it back to the dealer. Unfortunately, the only Kubota dealer within a hundred miles recently (and abruptly) closed it doors for good. My tractor is still under warranty, so I may end up having to haul it a ways to get the problem addressed. You folks have all been helpful though. Thanks for the help.

Great! I'll try it. Would be terrific if the fix is that simple. BTW, maybe it's just me but I think the Kubota owner's manual is atrocious. It is no help at all in explaining how to do even the most basic things with my tractor, e.g., how to operate the belly mower.
