Hi,

I recently acquired a BX1870 and a few implements, as part of purchasing a rural property. It runs, and the mower works. However, I cannot get the PTO shaft to disconnect. Since the tractor and mower are both Kubota, my guess is that the shaft was part of the purchase. The lock is something I have not seen before.

I sprayed WD-40 on it and let it sit for a while, and then tapped the yoke with a hammer, rotating it through different positions as I did so. It doesn't budge, no matter what I try.

Photos attached.

Suggestions most welcome!

John.

I have a BX2370 with the mower attachment. That shaft in your picture doesn,t look like a Kubota one to me. Try pushing the outside cover of the coupling towards the front of the tractor while you are trying to slide it off. That is the way my factory stock one works.

Not sure why it doesn’t release; probably needed (still needs) lubrication. Here is a picture of my bare PTO on my BX1870

I have a pto shaft coupling that looks similar to that.

The outside ridged ring rotates a few degrees to release or install it. From memory it rotates Counter Clock Wise but you should try both directions. You may have to pull it backwards or push it forwards if it doesn’t rotate
