But if he’s not using the boom (up/down) function of the loader valve, he won’t get float.

Like Dan said, need to know how he’s moving the joystick. Just because mine looks similar, doesn’t mean my joystick is connected to the valve the same as his.
Right, I understand that. I'm merely voicing my knowledge. The quoting each other to presumably correct who's providing input, is helping nothing.

I'll bow out.

Yep, point taken.👍 I was making some assumptions. Not always helpful.

Best if the OP helped clarify what’s going on.

I have heard about the float not working if you have never used it before, and that it might be the case. In this event, he should ask the dealer if it is OK to try to force it. I know that when I had the BX22 and hadn't used the tractor in a couple of months, the loader valve would become stiff. Never bothered me and usually after an hour of use it was smooth as silk again. I don't believe that he answered the question if he has a loader on the tractor. If e doesn't then that valve might just be stiff from lack of use.

Thanks everybody for all your help and insight. I swapped out the hoses to match what RCW has (btw, thank you RCW). So i went from moving the control valve left (raise) and right (lower) to now forward (lower) and back (raise). Being completely new to tractoring, i think the float works because it simply drops to ground level when i push the control valve forward, but it doesn’t go any further forward as was suggested in some of the other online literature. If i keep the stick pushed forward the snowblower will continue to lower and lift the front wheels off the ground. Now we just need snow in eastern ontario to put it to the test! Thanks again folks

Ps, i do not have a FEL

Sounds like you found float. Right at the most-forward extent of the control's travel.

There's is commonly a "detent" past which the valve allows float. You can often feel and hear the spool "click" when it goes into position over the steel ball(s)..

The valve will apply down-pressure until it clicks into float.

The control will typically stay in the float position because the steel balls hold it there.

Does your control stay in the float position?

Might be worth working the control lever without the tractor running to see if you can feel or hear it engage the float function.

I’ll be darned if that didn't work. Clearly i was too afraid to be a bit more agressive on the control valve shifter. Works like a charm now. Thank you very much for your sage advice.

Glad it worked for you. (y)

Not a bad idea to exercise that occasionally. That spool is known to get bound up with moisture and rust inside the end cap. Maybe investigate routine maintenance in the future.

I’m rooting for no snow. Had a lot of practice….❄;)

Take care.
