Bx won't move

So I am digging and hauling dirt/clay with my pond scoop get a full load and put on brake to push loose stuff in so it doesn't fall out going up hill. Get back on release brake hit reverse nothing forward nothing, try high gear nothing, also the foot pedal moves much easier. drop pond scoop to ground turn off look underneath thinking a linkage came off. Nope everything looks like it is working, Bu then I noticed the fan that blows air on the transmission- axel assembly all that is left is the hub no fan blades. Great so I probably overheated it.
Anyone got any good news for me at this point, or did I trash it?

The first thing to do is to have someone watch the rear wheels when you attempt to move the tractor. There is a good possibility that the rim is spinning inside of the tire. This happens when the air pressure in the tire drops too low, and there isn't enough friction for the tire to grab the outer edge of the rim. On my tractor, I had to sand the glossy area of the wheel rim to get the tire to grip. Usually, this is only a problem with tires filled with beet juice for additional weight and traction.
Getting the cooling fan replaced should be your next project.

Or maybe put it in four-wheel-drive and watch the front wheels. If you’re on a really slippery surface, you will see them spinning unless they would also be slipping within the wheels, which I think the probability of which is small.

If you’re on a surface with reasonable traction, then the front wheels should move the tractor even if the rear wheels are slipping inside the tires… So I think anyway.

That would be nice, but the wheels are not slipping, besides it is in 4 wheel drive, as I was also locking the rear axel digging uphill, ie nothing from front wheels either.

Kind of hard to figure out what's going on if it's still stuck on the side of the pond, so first task is probably to get it up on flat ground.

Low hydraulic fluid might cause the transmission to slip, especially on a really steep slope.

I dont think it is slipping when I push the pedal there is no responce at all no load on engine. Also had it on steeper incline a moment before, and even steeper yesterday and no sign of leakage. Yea I have to unload the dirt by hand then pull it up with my Grand Cherokee. I was hoping someone knew of a tempature bypass or something or hopefully it is a connection right at the hyd. transmission.

Does the loader work or if the loader isn't on the tractor, do the 3-point hitch arms raise and lower? The hitch arms are also connected to the linkage that moves the mower deck up and down.

It ended up not raining so I went back down and looking things over and found the linkage at the transmission came apart. It is right above the filter so you really can't see it very well, and the control rod was held in place by other bars so it looked good and was probably less that an 1/2 inch low. Was able to connect it good enough to up to where I will be working on it. Whew!! Doesn't look like I wrecked it after all
So I will be looking at the parts schematics and see what I am dealing with and ordering that and a new fan and will check out the fluid to see if I overheated the fluid without that fan.

this is the BX2660 transmission drawing, The fan is #140, about $13 CDN. It's been said you have a PITA job ahead as driveshaft #010 has to come out, to get #110 off ? Others WILL know. I see that if #130 come off,then #080 should come down and forward and off ??
If you want a million bucks, design/make/sell a 'two piece- easily installed' replacement fan......

When you buy the fan, ask about a 'fan guard'. My 2018 BX23s came with it. While some use 'under armour', that has to come off when you mount the midmountmower....

You read my mind I was going to ask if there was an guard that would protect the fan from branches when the mid mower was off, or I could make one with some expanded metal. Yes hopefully it looks like I might be able to unbolt the front coupling and drop the drive shaft down

Did that repair myself...

Fan was 8.99USD and I had to take the tractor completely apart. ROPS, seat, floor pan, engine cowling. I even had to raise and move the engine 3 inches to get the driveshaft enough room to move...Here are some before and after pictures...

So, you ordered the skid plate too? BX expanded makes one a lot of folks use. If nothing else, you could fab something up.

Good time to clean up the machine under the shiny stuff.

Glad to hear it was something simple. Good advice about that fan. If you will be going over rocks, sticks etc. adding a skidplate gives protection.

Highly recommend Kubota SUDT2 hydraulic fluid, even though it is pricey. There are other good premium fluids but avoid discount store bargain fluids... since everything on the tractor is hydraulic, the fluid is not the place to be cheap.

Yeah I believe the older models and the non-bachoe models can be replaced without all that crazy work. I've also seen videos where guys cut a 2 inch hole on the bump next to the diflock and use the hole to unscrew the bolt. They cut the fan in 2 pieces and assemble it back on using brackets...

Update on my Bx for you guys sharing advise with me. linkage is installed hydraulics all seem normal. Oil still smells fine, but it about due to be changed anyway. My local shop said the fan guard is aftermarket so I will fab something up thinking expanded metal. (I am a retired Vac/sheetmetal worker after all)
I took the opportunity since I will be digging in to order a extra part or two that I thought might need refreshing along with the fan. The fan was a day or two order but another part wasn't so I will change fan at that time and then hyd oil and filter, and guard at a later time until then lighter duty use.
I will start on the fan by taking the shaft off up front first ( like You need to do to change the fan belt (last year) and figure out what I need to get the room I need to swap out hyd fan, hoping mine is old enough for just the floor board removal.

Your local shop is wrong! The fan guard is factory installed on newer ('21 and newer?) BX2380s.
It attaches with four bolts. You might need to drill the frame for the mounting bolts on an older BX, though.
