anyone install a fuel shutoff valve/cock on a BX? changing the fuel filters is a messy operation. I usually use a vice grip to clamp closed the fuel line but not optimal. if so, what kind of shutoff did you use? has it held up well? size of shutoff to accommodate lines? Thanks for input/tips

Yup, I did it. Not much room there. However, the size is not common in USA, so I ordered one from Internet source. It is for 5/16" hose. Briggs and Stratton's is for 1/4" and may work OK, if hose clamp is tight. Also, you might check on an ultra filter funnel, one that will hold back water. Expensive. However, since using that, I have not had a plugged filter problem (yet), Somehow I never had plugged filter problems on other tractors in the past and feel the Kubota BX filters must be ultra fine.

There is already such a thing, go to a laboratory equip supply store and ask for a hose clamp. They are small clamps with padded bars to squeeze off tubes. If you have one, then you can use it on any of your equipment.

lab hose clamp seems ideal, no risk of an install failure and does the job. thanks for the tip

scooby, the square part of the assembly looks like the edges are pretty sharp. Any problems cutting through the lines?

I'll have to see how much room I have to work with, but rather than repeatedly smashing the line on mine to close it off, something I can't think is anything but harmful to the line, I'll figure out a place to put a real shut off.

I plan on having my tractor around a long time, many years, and over the years, all those pinches would undoubtedly lead to line failure sooner rather than later. I'd rather put the effort into doing it right now, and save having to redo it later.
