My BX 2660 is around 8 years old on the original battery, I wanted to replace it pro-actively with an AGM style like I use in my Jeep. Finally found one in the BX sized Group 26R!

After 8 years on the original battery, I’d not be interested in changing to something else, I’d be interested in buying an exact replacement. IMO

You can't get a replacement original. Most dealers just sell Interstate.

I got 16 years out of the original Kubota battery in my 2002 L4310. 8 years is nothing!

At likely 2x or more in price, why go this route?

Just asking as this is not a critical or demanding application. One might be better to upgrade the battery cables for better cranking power.

im with Troverman. You might have several years left in the original battery . If a new one makes you feel better go for it. Your tractor/your money .

Just posting up for other folks looking for a BX battery in the Group 26R configuration in a AGM type battery

I prefer the AGM type battery in my vehicles for holding a charge when sitting for months and storage amp hours - not all of us have an outlet for a battery tender...

I also prefer AGM batteries for my equipment. I put yellow top Optimas in my ZD mowers, and they always start in the spring.

My personal experience with Optima (Johnson Control's) batteries is, they are over priced and they basically suck. Your experience may be different. I'll stick with Interstate flooded cell jars. No battery tender here and no block heater either. Tractors at ambient temperature always.

Flooded cell jars sitting in a static condition will only lose 3% of their total charge every 30 days which is inconsequential (so long as the jar is totally charged before sitting) and there is no parasitic loss incurred, which is why I have a master disconnect on each of my unit that breaks the circuit at the negative post. No circuit, no parasitic loss. That may not work with an electronic controlled engine like the new Tier 4 common rail motors but with my pre 4 conventional injected motors, it works quite well.

As usual, your mileage may vary but I know what my mileage is.

Oh my, a Fullthrottle group 31 for my tractor is $439.99.

Ouch... I paid 75 bucks for a Delphi Group 31 flooded cell jar, 1100 CCA, new. Bought 2, one for each Kubota. Delphi's are East Penn.

My experience with Optima is that they are “OK.” I have a red top in my GMC 3500 plow truck. But I think Odyssey batteries are better. They work well for winching and last a long time.

That said, I usually just put replacement Interstate batteries in from the dealer when it comes to Kubota.

By the way, my DEKA battery in my zero turn mower is now 7 years old, never started in the off season, cold storage, no tender.

The $89 Walmart EverStart is still alive in my 9N after 7 years. I’m ahead of Optima and AGM owners dollar-wise.
