I really liked my Grass master 18-8.5-10 turf tires for my BX. As this is my lawn mower too it's a perfect match. But i've noticed that the tires are wearing faster on the outside of the tire verse the inside .....on both front tires. I do a decent amount of loader and snowblower work on them....and mostly avoid using 4x4 on asphalt unless I need it in winter. having said that when I accidently left my 4x4 on in the summer on the asphalt I can really see where the front tires wear pattern is....and its outside to in like i described above.

Whats the deal? Toe in? looking at the front of the tractor the tires always looked liked they were "pointing in" at the bottom vs the top.....which would match the wear pattern (outside tread touching first). Toe in is the front of the tire "toed in" and the back of the tire toed out right?

Thanks again,

B

Take it to the selling dealer and have them do a front-end alignment. It is possible that you bent one of the tie rods. In 20 years of owning a BX, I never saw tire wear as you describe. I can't understand how you could leave your tractor in 4x4 mode for a summer without realizing it while driving on asphalt.

I,m having the same problem with my BX2370. Is there a document or link that someone could post that shows how to properly do a front wheel alignment on these machines ?

The tires on my new to me bx2350 are worn quite a bit on the outside compared to the inside. The camber on these axles is pretty steep, I figured that is what is causing the wear and that it is just the nature of the beast. Camber and caster are not adjustable. My lx2610su has quite a bit of camber too. (Top of the tire sticks out further than the bottom of the tire)

Do bx front tires typically wear pretty even?

I had a BX22 for about 18 years and have never had a problem with tires wearing out prematurely, and my BX23S is not showing any tire wear problems. In fact I have not had any mechanical issues with my BX23S and my BX22 only had one, which in the end was discovered to be a defective rear control valve. Once that was out of the system, no more problems.

My BX 2200 is close to 20 years old. This is a picture of the original front tires after 1485 hours of service. They are foam filled so air pressure doesn’t play into the wear pattern. But actually I’m pretty satisfied with the service they have given me to date. So I guess what I’m saying is perhaps you have an issue with alignment.

edit: I don’t have a loader, though. My B 2910 does. Don’t need two…
