Bx 2370 Questions

I am in the market for a new mower/small tractor and recently went to a kubota dealer and he recommended a BX2370. I have 1.5 acres to mow usually mowing in the morning but try to let the grass dry out as much as possible before I head to work 2nd shift. I also have about a 250 foot drive that I want to clear snow from in winter, so I was going to get the FEL also. But I have a few questions.
1. For the money/to justify buying this it will have to last 20 years, are they proven reliable, trouble free.(Obviously doing the recommended maintenance)?
2. I like my grass to look nice which deck should I get. The dealer said go with the 60 inch standard deck. As long as its a good cut and has enough power I would like the 60 inch deck. My neighbor has a Kubota and his grass looks nice.
3. The dealer said turf tires since I will mostly use this to mow with, my neighbor has a larger kubota B series I think with far more aggressive tires and his dont tear up his yard, which was the dealers concern. I would rather have too much than too little traction I think.
4. Does the diesel have any problems in winter, do they have a block heater, what about the fuel gelling?
Thank you for any feed back I have always eyed my neighbors Kubota think it is time for me to get one.

I have had mine (2370) for 2.5 years, runs better now than it did brand new.

I would NOT get turfs....I have two machines with turfs and the 2370 with R4's - if your yard is wet - then it might make tracks.....then again, cutting a wet yard...,mmmmm....

as for the diesel - it will outlast you, seriously ....it will last 30 years if you keep up with the easy upkeep.

AS far as winter, way too many ways to make it start and run in the cold - diesels now are almost as easy to start as gassers.

I would also get a rear blade - the FEL works well, but a rear blade will push/pull your gravel much better than the FEL

as for the 60" deck......shoot that engine and machine will push a 72" deck ifn they made one for that model! UNLESS you are cutting grass that is 18" tall....but under normal grass cutting situations, that 5' er is the cats ass....trust me! Get the reg deck - nothing special about the fine cut mower, other than cost.

Once you get it .....you will be amazed at how much machine you are getting, some think it is a bigger riding lawn mower........well ask them if their rider can do this !

taking out the trash takes on a whole new meaning !

Appreciate the feed back, the only experience I have with kubotas is my neighbor having one and he is mowing about 4 acres and loves his. He has brought over his with FEL and helped me remove some concrete side walk, move dirt , and rocks. I dont think I need the FEL but it beats the wheel barrow I have been using. thanks

Hokie nailed it!

I agree on the 5' deck, works very well from factory but heard the Oregon Gator Blades will make it cut better than a fine cut. If you can get the drive over, standard deck isn't really hard to take on and off if you don't do it too often. It also will help resale if you need to sell in the future.

Enjoy the new tool, I put over 100 hours in the first 5 months & it is working better than ever.

I have had mine for 23 months now and as far as gelling in the fuel goes, i add the anti gelling to fuel can before i fill it up and even in summer time. The 60" deck is nice and cuts well. A family member likes to cut with their 48" mower but take 1.5 hours in largest part of yard. Whereas i can mow all the yard parts in about 45 minutes no problem. I do have the turf tires on mine and even use the FEL for snow removal as needed if over 12" deep. Otherwise i have a crapsman snow blower that clears just fine if needed.

What they said, we have two BXs, one bought new in 2003, very reliable machines and I don't need a block heater or anything on any of our tractors where I live. I use a fuel conditioner sometimes and do regular maintenance, very easy DIY on these little things. We have 60" decks on our BXs and 1025R with Industrial tires.

I'm sure the turfs would be fine, but I've used them all and for my use, I now only use R4 on SCUT/CUT and Ag on UT or Ag tractors.

Thanks again, since becoming a member I have been using the search function and learning all I can. I hopefully plan to get one bought in the next month or so, spending that kind of money does not come easy.

Ya cant go wrong with the 2370, at lease in MHO. And remember this,,,, I have NEVER heard anyone say geeee I wish I didnt have this much power . You will find things to do you never thought needed done. And congrads on the new beasty when you get her,,

The only thing so far that has really stopped my tractor is the single blade plow being an anchor and stopping it with it barely sticking out of rocky soil. You will run out of traction before you run out of power.

Axelson being a little north of you all good advice.
1. Take care of it, should last 20 years
2. 60" cuts great, keep the blades sharp
3. I like the R4's, other peoples opinions vary
4. Get your diesel at a station that sells "alot of diesel", keep it fresher before the winter and thru the winter also adding anti-gel. Keep 2 extra fuel filters on hand and a bottle of Diesel 911. I've only had to use them 1 time in 3 years and it was -20.

I love the FEL and that's why I use it most of the time, a glorified powered wheel barrow, but I don't like it for clearing snow that well on long runs. I use a front and rear blade. Snowblower for backup then if nothing else the FEL. FEL scoops not plows.

I have turf tires on mine with no problems however everyone has an opinion.
