BX 2200 Checking front axle oil

I need clarification here. The owners manual talks about the level on the dipstick. However; it does not say if the cap should be screwed in and removed to check level or just insert it and rest on the case to take the reading.

Good question. I always put the dipstick in as far as it will go, and measure that way. BUT I do not know the correct answer...Have often wondered the same thing myself.

I think bottom line is either way will work and not cause any damage...but since I am of the more is better group, maybe NOT putting the cap back in all the way is preferable...

I too push the cap down to check..... much like a dipstick going all the way till it stops.

The oil level should be checked with the stick screwed in. The oil level should be halfway up the propeller shaft you can see in the fill hole.
