Re: Box 22

Usually when hydraulics have major issues, the oil warms up and things go south! How does the other hydraulic components do when hot?

Does it want to try to coast down hill on a semi steep grade?

Sounds like it maybe an HST issue. Usually when they warm up the problem gets worse. You can remove the suction strainer or cut open the hyd filter to check for debris

With the added information, I would speculate the HST rotating group and or port wear plate has an issue with wear.

Thanks for the information friends. The propeller shaft fan is missing I suppose that's why hydrolics has been getting so hot with operation, not sure how long it's been missing my father has had this unit for many years I just acquired it from him . Also as an question to the other tech. You mentioned port wear is there a fix for this problem I will get the propeller shaft fan and replace it just wander if there is possible perminate damage damage done now thank you Rick looking forward to your views.

You won't likely find much in the hydraulic filter on a BX. most of the debris will be on the suction screen if the HST has failed. the oil has to get through that screen, the hydraulic pump and the steering valve to get to the hydraulic filter! IF it works ok when cold you might get lucky and have it work ok when you replace the fan. worth a try at least! prices really add up fast when you start repairing a HST. You should check that suction screen anyway, chances are it has never been cleaned.

The suction screen is on the left side of the transmission case near the bottom.
Easiest to take the left rear wheel off. The screen is on the big "bolt" that goes through the banjo end on the suction pipe. you'll need a socket that fits good because they are very tight if they have never been off. I think it is 30mm but my memory isn't as good as it used to be!

I guess you've checked, but sometimes it's missed, the park brake isn't on is it?

Be aware that if you pull the bolt/suction screen with the transmission full of fluid, all the tranny fluid will drain out unless you plug the hole.

No brake isn't on. I pulled screen today it ran for about 20 minutes then chattered some again if I give it full peddle it's like it traveled free no pull from it when I go back to barely pushing down will pull again but chattering if push to hard The fluid was sort of white looking I had just put new in haven't run more than 1/2 hour on that oil should I check screen again it had a lot of stuff in it I put new fluid in again after screen Looking forward to your thoughts
