Someone above mentioned that in the past the owner might have used starting fluid to try to get the tractor started.
If so, add the cost of a new connecting rod or two to the calculation. AND make sure you are able to diagnose the need...
Like others expressed above, unless I personally really wanted a hobby challenge I would walk away...scrap price might entice me, but only if I wanted a hobby project...and had nothing better to devote my time to....
