Have 8 hours on new L3200. First jerky 3pt hitch. Now the POS won't even crank. In a barn, hasn't been out in the elements. Last used 3 weeks ago. Meter says 12v on battery. Tried jumping to no avail. Get just a click but no crank. Headlights and rest of electrical seem to be working. Clutch is in and PTO is off. This is no more reliable than the crappy 2N it replaced.

I hope and think you'll find out it is because of an overlooked safety switch.

Problem solved - rocking the forward/reverse pedal. I can find no mention of this interconnect anywhere in the manual. Very frustrating to have gotten out the manual and have gone over all of the things it lists to check like PTO switch and clutch depressed but no mention of the rocker. And it's not very hard to imagine it getting nudged with your foot when getting off. I had such awful flashbacks of that God-forsaken Ford N which only started 1/2 the time. The kubota was supposed to be the end of the "will she-won't she" fretting on the walk out to the barn.

That quick crank and rumble of the diesel was such a relief. The dealer is over an hour and a half away and I couldn't get it out of the barn if it wouldn't start. (Backed in with the FEL bucket down on the ground for safety.). Similar problem getting onto the flatbed trailer because of the FEL even if I could get it out of the barn.

I know it is easy for me to say as your frustration is obvious but don't give up, you probably have some simple thing wrong, possibly a loose wire. My 3 pt was jerky for the first maybe 5 hours and smoothed out afterwards.

I was a long time green owner and still feel the tractors deere made in the 90s was far superior to what they make today. But today, it was an easy decision to go for the L3800 which is far more machine than the equivalent green 3038 or 3032.

This is one of those times it pays to read the owners manual on a new tractor you're not familiar with. You're compairing oranges to very old, worn out, almost apple sauce, apples LOL.

Yeah, I never heard of a green tractor having problems; well there was that blown cylinder, then a new engine and...other than that...

I had similar issues with my JD, not knowing if I was going to have to work on it to get the job done. So I went orange with the L3800, basically the same tractor as yours. I did a ton of research before buying and there is know way I was going green. With that said, I have absolutely know buyers remorse. If fact it has been a great experience to this point, about 140hrs in 11 months.

As others have stated and as you found out it was something simple. I would suggest keeping a positive outlook. Complaining on an orange forum will not get you much sympathy, maybe try green tractor talks, if there is such a place. I'm sure you'll find plenty of like minded folks over there.

My uncle has his 2 year old JD 3032 for sale right now, I bet he would be willing to make a trade with you...

Glad it was simple, and not a Kubota problem. All tractors have a myriad of safety switches, and should be suspected first, instead of losing your cool and blaming the tractor.
Hopefully, as time progresses, you will gain confidence in your Kubota. If not, trade it in on a JD. Life its too short be be unhappy.
As far as the dealer goes, let your warranty work for you, instead of getting worked up. Just because the tractor would be hard to access doesn't mean that they couldn't help; they probably would have told you to check the directional pedal. Talking to a service person can save a lot of travel, time, and frustration.

The HST safety switch is a know 'no start' problem. I don't have that problem with my L3800DT. No 'jerky hitch' either...

Maybe you need to trade the "POS" in on something else?

As far as your "jerky 3pt", from what I've read, as well with my own, the L series all experience the jerky 3pt and the Grand L's don't. If smoother 3pt is needed, from what I understand, you need to upgrade to a Grand L control valve. But again, there are some that have no problem with the jerkiness.

The basic L 3-pt hitch rises in very small increments. If the leaver is moved slow enough and with enough weight on the 3-pt, the jerkyness on some tractors can be quite dramatic and makes good you-tube video. Some tractors are worse and are a problem, but by far most of the basic Ls' are just fine in this area.

The Grand L works different in that the 3 pt comes up in a constant smooth motion...

It's not just Kubota either, my mom has a small Massey the is jerky as-all-hell.

If it is some comfort, here is the remark from a dealer near here that handles both green and orange. When it comes to the amount of time in the shop for various things, the greens come in twice as often.

Yep, in 30+ years of tractor use Kubota has always been the most reliable for me...

Have you tried adjusting the three point hitch speed control, or adjusting engine RPM's, or both?
Since we are on the topic. I tried to adjust my 3 pt hitch speed just out of curiosity and the knob will not budge on my 3800 HST. It needs to be rotated... correct? I did not fuss too much with it because I don't really need too, but I read that one of the positions is a locking position and this may be useful one day.

Yes it turns. Mine was stuck when tractor was new, but some WD40 got it freed up.

The knob that I think you are referring to only adjusts the downward speed (or pressure escape). Will not have any influence on upper speed or smoothness, and like bluegil suggested, a little WD40, a rag to wrap around the knob, and a pair of channel locks and gently start working the knob back and forth till smooth operation.
