42" or 48" will be fine. I believe the manual recommends a 42", but I have used a 48" Land Pride on our BX2660 for years.

I had a L185DT with about 13 PTO horses. I had a 60" bush hog, and found myself in low gear if it was really heavy grass or brush. I did feel, however, that if the tractor could run it over, the bush hog would cut it down.
You have way more horses, but I'd be leery about the size and weight of the bigger hog. I reckon 48" is a good size.

I third the 48". I don't have one, but I would like to buy a 48" for my B7100. A 42" would cut the efficiency down too much, and I know my tractor would handle the 48".

I just purchesd a 48 inch for my bx2230. No complaints, do have to add weights to the front.
I used a 4 ft bushog on my bx2230 and it was a little heavy as you mentioned. The problem I had was tearing up the rubber boots on the steering cylinder from brairs and small sapling trees

Mine too, I bought some protectors from Bro Tek, but haven't used them yet as I bought a different tractor for bush hogging. I will put them on some day.

Someone mentioned flexible rad hoses over the steering cylinders, looks like it will work.
That will work for light brush, but won't prevent the rods from being bent. My son law bent both sides of his.

You should be good to go then. Even if you tear the boots, nothing happens, mu son in law has run his that way for three years.
