Bugs in Fuel Line

Greetings from Western Illinois. My first post. I have a 2022 L3560 HST tractor. I am on my second incident of bugs in my fuel line/fuel tank.

Used air compressor to blow out bugs from the water separator filter and fuel line to tank and heard something land in the tank. After that I was able to get fuel flowing and tractor started.
I know this is a temp fix and will need to pull the tank and clean, as well as blow out fuel lines again. I am hypothesizing they are getting in through the fuel vent tube which is a bear to get to (behind dashboard and in front of heat shield.

I have been diligent on straining fuel and ensuring gas lid is on tight. Any other thoughts on how they are getting into fuel system? Any one put a screen or hose end filter on their fuel tank tube vent to keep bugs out? I saw Kubota makes a fuel tank strainer for BX model but didn’t see one for L series. Anyone have a lead on that?

Thanks, IlliniTB no

I doubt bugs are getting in through the vent. Could be wrong.

Whenever I filled my tractor, invariably there were bugs, leaves, etc. floating around.

I started using a Mr. Funnel some time back.

Readily available at Farm Stores, and other online retailers.

Here is one that actually fits (my L 2501 at least), but like I say in the post, it kinda sucks.

The only thing it is good for, is when you initially take the cap off, it will prevent debris from falling in.

However, it is so restrictive, I have to remove it to actually fill the tank.

Pick your poison I guess.

Maybe a 'Mason jar cold press coffee filter' will fit in the fuel spout ? It does on the BX23 !
Also, that #130 vent... if OPEN tube, install a sintered bronze exhaust filter used in hydraulic tanks, about $5.

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the pix of the vent. That’s definitely it… small and hard to get to.

Been using a filtered funnel since the first bug clean out over a year ago. I do fuel fill ups in my enclosed barn. Just not sure how they could get in there with this protocol and tightly sealed fuel cap. My thought is only other way in fuel system is through the open vent.

The fact that it has 2 tanks, it might be very possible the Bugs are just in the other tank and moved around.

Possibly. My understanding when dealership pulled tanks a year ago they cleaned out both. Good question for me to ask them. We’ve had a bumper crop of Lady bugs this year with so many soybean fields around us …. They get into everything! Thanks for the post.

Funny for you:
We have a friend that moved into their newly built house, it has a huge infestation of ladybugs, Thousands.
Well they had a Letter party ( pick a letter and dress and bring food of that letter) well the letter chosen was L, we came up with Linguini, Lemon cheese cake, and Lady bugs, we showed up Dressed as ladybugs (wolf included) along with 50 ladybug balloons, we walked in and said we heard it was a lady bug sanctuary, they all lost it! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
