So when you order an L4060 the FEL is the LA805 and will come "standard" with an L2235A (72”) Bucket....

Since the L4060 is roughly 66.5" wide...has anyone put a L2256 (66”) bucket on an L4060 ??

I like the idea of keeping the bucket width inside the rear tire width...so thinking the 66" bucket will serve me better than getting the 72" bucket...cant spec the L4060 on Kubota website with a 66" bucket, but I'm sure can ask my dealer to swap the 72" bucket for a 66" bucket....

Anyone see any problems with this....??

Perhaps you can, but it would seem you would always have the tires riding on the ridge you create. Any trough side wall caving-in on even shallowest of trench you dig with a single pass would cause you to ride up making depth control all the more difficult. As you get deeper, it only gets worse. Also, if you ever decide to reconfigure your wheels to get more width (and stability) then your wheels will probably be wider than 66".

I have an LA805 with a 72" on an L3560, and I do not see a problem. Mine tractor is a smaller frame and less weight than the L4060 you are talking about, and it handles the 72" well. I may have sandier soil than you, but I have used it to scoop full buckets of stone (3/4" -1 1/2" stone) with no problem. I am not sure why you would want to go smaller. The 72" only gives you 3" of clearance at your tires if its 66" wide, but the 66.5" bucket only gives you 1/4" clearance per side. Everyone has different needs, and I do not know yours... but personally, I wouldn't do it.

+1 on the 72.

Just like a box blade, you want to clear your width with a little wiggle room.

Ok - good points. I’ll defer to your advice and judgement.

Any preference on which bucket ??

72” quick attach light material
72” quick attach square back
72” quick attach heavy duty round back

Thanks All...

You always should cover your tracks and then some with any implement.

L2296 HD 72" round back bucket with reversible cutting edge.
