Looking for recommendations for a 6' or 8" replacement bucket for my BT601 backhoe.
Sure hope you do not plan to use such a narrow bucket in soil with even a slight % of clay content.
If so... ..you will very quickly learn to hate narrow buckets!

If it is pipe, or wire, you are doing.......rent a chain type trencher!

I want a 16" for mine
I recently bought a 16" Q/C Kubota (Land Pride) bucket for my L48 TLB
$1040....no tax!
Ouch ! ( and a 28" Q/C ripper tooth -from another maker- for $1,000..... ouch....again! )
16" is the narrowest I would consider, due to bucket plugging.

I get the clay warnings, but I have problems with hardpan, so need replaceable teeth. I have already half worn down a set of tiger teeth on my 12" bucket in the hardpan. I finally hired a guy to drill 35 more tree holes. I also have spots I can't use a trencher between trees and on landscape mounds for koi pond installation. I was looking for options besides the Bxpanded.

It's not the bucket you should be focusing on, it's more the "teeth" on the bucket. Teeth can be hardened for better strength and durability. You might inquire at heavy equipment shops and/or weld shops who have the skills for hardening.

I bought a dozen OEM Hensley X156 replacement (spare) teeth for my L48 Kubota buckets, for less than $8 per tooth.

ESCO teeth were a free options from USA Attachments when converting the M59 backhoe to excavator buckets. Smaller, sharper and last longer than other teeth. Kinda expensive but highly regarded by dirt movers. Impressed by the difference. Would get them again if available.

Narrow, long trenching buckets are usually pulled thru the trench allowing the smaller amount of over burden to pile along the sides. Not dipping and dumping as much. Techniques and soil conditions vary.

Using a ripper first to cut roots and rocks helps any narrow trench.
