And they are on wooden wheels! Notice the smoke when they mash the big brake pedal? Must be a friction brake off the wheel, ala' Fred Flintstone. Spinning was the only option or the wheels would catch fire.

They musta been hitting 75-80mph at spots and an easy 60-70 through town at the end. Insane.

I kept thinking he could catch up if he just had some wedged fins on the center of his shoes. His feet become constant brakes.

He keeps tapping the brake bar. Stand on it too hard and your wheels catch fire with a likelihood your whole cart will be aflame by the time you get to the bottom of the hill. Small risk but part of the macho factor for those that survive.
