Brakes popping

I have an older L2600DT maybe 550 hours on it. I changed the transmission oil back during the shortages and had to buy an off brand oil due to shortages. Now i get a popping shake everyone in a while from the rear. Like the brakes are grabbing. If I go back to the high dollar Kubota UDT oil do you think the noise will quit or do I need to change the brakes? It's a manual transmission. TIA

Are you sure you’re not accidentally stepping on the differential-Lock pedal..?

Yes some cheap Hydraulic fluids will make the brakes grab.
So yes my first choice of advice would be to put a good quality UDT in it.

When you hear popping does it feel like the tractor pulls to one side?

Although I can't answer your question directly; Back in the day, I remember some differentials that required specific gear oils with "friction modifiers" and if you did not use them, they would chatter when turning.

But if you drained it, and added the correct fluid it would correct itself. (or there was bottles of "magic friction modifiers that you could add)

I think its worth a shot to drain and refill with the correct stuff.

I would think if that is all you have done, that might be the first place to look,, and you are about due for an oil change anyways :) Let us know if that fixes it

Thanks for the tips. I bought some JD friction modifier it seem to help for a week or two. Guess I break down and but the correct Kubota UDT fluid. Wow they have gone crazy on the prices. Folks up north have better prices but high shipping. I'll let y'all know.

I think I found the issue. I had read somewhere that kubota's will make a popping noise if the lug nuts get loose. So the other day I looked and I had a lug bolt missing. So just for grins, I got the impact wrench out and most of the lug bolts tighten up more. So far the noise has not returned (Knock on wood) I tried to find the article so I could thank them but haven't located it yet.

Did you use an air powered impact wrench with a torque stick? How do you know that the lug nuts were tightened to the proper specification?
