Box Trailer BX23S

Anyone ever use a box trailer to haul/store a BX23S? I know anything larger than a 14’ will fit. But some of these dual axle trailers only support 3400lbs (BX23s=about that) I need to find one that will hold up, especially in the door/ramp. I use my Bx23s for business about 1 time a month , so I don’t want to buy a ‘tool trailer’ that I cannot haul my tractor in.

One thing to pay attention to is tiedowns. We had a bunch of enclosed trailers at work and none of them had factory tiedowns that I'd trust. Some were cheap lightweight flush rings with wood screws into the plywood floor.

Installing RV jacks on either side will aid in loading and unloading and it just makes it more stable IMO.

YES, rear jacks are a must !
Also backup lights. SIMPLE with 7 wire hookups.2 per side(high and low)

I'm not sure I would trust a fold down ramp on an enclosed trailer to drive a SCUT onto ... A lawn tractor would be fine.

I agree on the extra jacks on the back corners, as that not only stabilize the back, but if you don't, the back goes down, and the front lifts up ... Which can actually lift the back of your tow vehicle enough to make your parking brake ineffective! And it all rolls off on you!

Chock blocks can help, but think how much weight is on that back axle?

A tandem axle with brakes is what I'd look for, 16' at a minimum, and figure out a way to secure it so it doesn't come through the walls.

Yes, I need an enclosed for several reasons; I’m a handyman so storage of my other tools both on and off the job sites, my kids and I also race about 6-10 dirtbike races a year and would love a place to sleep that isn’t a tent, and I may need it to haul things from NC to Ohio/Illinois. Brakes are definitely a must. I’m currently using my Dads 20’, steel, double axle, non enclosed trailer, and paying him a very small rental fee when I use it for jobs. I do not have trailer brake controls on my F-150 5.0 V8. But will have the controls installed by the time I make this trailer purchase. From my research so far I’ve discovered that I need a beefy ‘car hauler’ or spend a lot of time and effort adding to a ‘Cargo Trailer’ with Gross weight higher than 6500lbs. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with the Bx23s in an enclosed trailer?

Since I plan on using it for sleeping in at the weekend races.

thats a great idea since I also plan on throwing down a foam mattress and sleeping in it at the occasional weekend races.

If he would’ve just kept driving he would’ve been fine, lol. But yes that trailer is very similar to what I currently use to transport my tractor and I place wood blocks under the back of the frame and in the center of the ramp to support the load with my short axle tractor. Per my father’s request (it’s his trailer).

Odds are good your F-150( > 1996) is already prewired for a brake controller. Look under the dash wher ethe OBD-II connector is, should be a black 4 pronged connector(red,whit,blue, ?? ) . Have you a 7 pronged trailer connector out back ? if not 'they' make a 'T-adapter', that connects to the harness under the box, left side, making it easy to hookup.
I had a 7by14' tandem enclosed I was going to use,but 'priorities' changed.....I was thinking with the bucket off,it'd store between loader frame and tractor.....that was my plan IF it was more than 13'6".
Go for a trailer that's 7' tall on the inside. Any tandem, 3500# axles trailer should be fine for you.

It’s a 2016 and apparently there is a need to get into Ford’s software for my truck, so I’m going to just take it somewhere and have the trailer brakes installed. I do have a 7 prong, and yes the wires already exist from the factory. It would normally be a job I can tackle but YouTube mechanics say differently. 7’ clearance would be nice the bx23s is much shorter than that though.

There are brake controllers that mount on the trailer now. I recall they were set up using a smart phone. You can change settings with the smart phone app as you need to.
