Hello all,
Purchased my first tractor today, and made it an Kubota L4600 HST 4x4! Super excited about it and have a lot of work lined up for it. Purchased a FEL with it and also a Land Pride 1872 bush hog with it. Believe I received a great price on it compared to other brands I looked at. My wife and I have 65 acres we are going to start cleaning up on, I hope it's up to the task! I look forward getting to know some of you and drawing on your experience

Get the tires loaded and get a ballast box for it for loader work.
Look into a grapple bucket to deal with trees and brush.

Thanks guys, yes I'm going to get some weight on the rear end but I'm thinking of going with the wheel weights. The reason for that is because my land is covered with thorn trees. I'd love the grapple bucket, but I have to let the bank account recover a little first, lol.

Wheel weights are great for added traction and stability, BUT do nothing to counter the weight of the FEL! You need significant weight on the 3 pt for any real loader work!

Congrats on a fine machine!

Congratulations on your new tractor. I can understand wheel weights to allow for tire repairs, they are just really expensive. I'll second the need for ample weight on the three point hitch. I had to use our M8540 a few days ago without anything on the 3PH and even with filled tires, I sure didn't like it.

On my 5740HSTC with filled tires, I keep 1100 pounds on the 3PH. Your manual should have some info on ballast.

ok thanks, i used the loader to pick up some 6 ft logs today and even with my bush hog hanging off the back it felt squirrly at times. Anyone have a good grapple they would recommend?

My grapple is made by Blue Diamond, but for the most part they are all good no matter what brand you go with.

I second you investing in some pallet forks, they are very versatile!

I just traded a L4600 for a L5460.. The 4600 did quite a bit of work for us.
