Bolt Trouble

This mornings up date:

Concentrated on pulling the motor. It's now free and hanging but won't come completely out. The hydraulic suction tube (tube on top of the pump) is just barely big enough so that it won't let the motor come out. Turned it loose at the reservoir end to see if that gives me some wiggle room. After lunch project.



Haven't tried to get the pin out today, makes me wish I'd bought the air hammer a while back. May have to take the front end back to Houston with me and get it removed there.

Here's the framework if you can make heads or tails of it.

The pin is out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thrill of victory.
Drilled both ends to 1/2" as deep as I could, heated both ends of the casting to orange, then laid on it with a flogging hammer.

Where (on the tractor) was the set screw (holding in the pin) installed at? No mention of that was in the work shop manual I have.

Looks like you have a fairly serious "groove" in the pin. I assume that is wear on the pin, is that correct?

The set screw was located in the hole on the right hand side of the housing.
That is wear you see on the pin, but that's not what was not letting it come out, it was the housing on both ends of the pin that had it captured. It didn't want to start moving until both ends were orange in color.

I had to re tap some holes on a duetz tractor into the cast steel of the rear end. It taps easily. you'll need to step up in bolt thread diameter size .That is best hope to shoot for in that spot. It might require you pull engine. A machine shop could do it for sure.
