Hello,

I have a 4630 GSTC and am wishing to install a block heater. The Kub unit is to be installed behind the hydraulic pump (on the right side of the engine), which would have to be removed to install. On the left side of the engine there are four "typical freeze plugs," that are quite easily accessible. Has anyone installed a "conventional block heater," in one of those locations?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank You So Much

The reason you are required to put the heater in that exact location on that motor is that there is room in the water jacket for the element, the orientation of the freeze plugs on the other side the heater element will hit the cylinder walls or webbing. ;)

You got my curiosity up so I looked at our tractor and it appears to have an inline water heater that works great! Last year it was -31F and I plugged it in and it started!

I ended up putting a heater in the lower radiator hose because it was easier. In addition, I had read lots of posts about block heaters going bad that were installed in the engine block because users installed them in the wrong location.

This was a really easy install.
I just put plier clamps on both side of the hose to block the fluid from leaking, cut out a little section of hose big enough to fit the heater and then removed my plier clamps. This was on a L3940. Took me a total of about 10 minutes to do the install.

I have been using it for the last 3 years with NO Problems.
