All the commercial fuel dispensers around here have went to a big nozzle on the off-road diesel that will not fit in my fuel cans. I suppose it is to fix some non-existent problem.

Get a large funnel with an opening just small enough to fit inside your fuel cans with a large reservoir on top. Shouldn't be more than a couple $ at an auto parts store.

With the volume of fuel those larger nozzles put out I just can't see that working well!
Where I am, the rate at which fuel comes out of the large nozzles very greatly from one pomp to another. I have that funnel and have used it a couple of times and yes it is a PITA but you can fill a 5 gal can. I also have a funnel that will hold about 2 quarts and has a foot long neck and necks down to just fit into a 5 gallon can. That one works good but I could not find any pics of it. I seldon buy by 5 gallon cans because I have a bulk tank that I use to fill the tractor and 5 gallon can if I need to.

The bigger nozzles are for higher flow rates for filling fuel transfer tanks in the back of pickups faster. When you are pumping a 100 gallons, the faster the better.
I haven't run in to that yet, the only station that has OR diesel around here has the standard nozzle. And I really don't think it takes much longer to fill a big tank with the large nozzle than the standard one. I mean click it on and go get a cup of coffee while it fills and relax for a bit before getting back to the chores of the day
I hate the small nozzles even for filling up s pickup. Around me, they have the flow throttled back almost to a trickle so the little old ladies and idiots texting on their phones won't pump as much fuel on the ground instead of paying attention to what they are doing.
The high flow diesel pumps with the big nozzles should flow 20 gallons a minute. The standard nozzle only flows 8 gallons a minute. So a funnel with the high flow would be a pain in the a$$
If all the suppliers have switched to big nozzles I would guess and say the bulk demand must be pretty high. Either that or there has been a problem with people trying to run off-road fuel in their pickup trucks. I have seen stations use the large nozzles because they are to big to fit in the fill spout on trucks.
Diesel fuel nozzles are larger to prevent people from putting DF2 in gasoline autos. That works great until the tanker driver fills underground tanks with the wrong fuel, i.e. dumps DF2 into the underground gasoline tank and vise versa. It just happened down the road from here...............lots of unhappy customers!

They have the larger nozzle where I get my OR and I do have a newer 5 gal can. When you put fuel in it ( I only get around 3.5 gal at a time) it flows so fast the displaced air in the can has a tendency to mist some of the fuel out. I always get 1/2 a dozen paper towels before I begin, because I've yet to figure out how not to make a mess.
I must be in a different area. Here the larger nozzle pumps are supplemented by one pump with smaller nozzles. That one usually is alongside the gasoline pumps. Even the truck stops have that set up.
Have you ever looked at a local fuel supplier? Sometimes you can buy direct from them, save money and get better service at the same time.

A few years ago when I used to farm, we had bulk delivery of both diesels and gasoline. We blew an engine in a Mack truck and a Cat in a GMC. When the dealer rebuilt the engine, they changed the fuel filter and found out that the diesel had a large concentration of gas in it because the idiot delivering fuel carried both on the delivery truck and somehow got gas mixed in the diesel tank. Of course we couldn't prove it enough to get compensated.
