Hi all. Haven't been around for a while. I have a 2014 3350 SU that has set out in the elements since new. It seems time has caught up with me cause many hydraulic lines are failing at once. So, I'm searching for a parts list, and an affordable source for the hoses. Best to have new ones made up locally, or genuine OEM? Advise appreciated. Steve.

Buy them pre-made if you can. Surplus Center sells NRP Jones hose assemblies at can't be beat prices. I make my own and I can't match their cost.

Say Dan. Just went to Surplus Center, and your for sure right. Great prices. So I'll show my ignorance. All those hoses look to be SAE fittings, are all the Kubota fitting SAE as well?

Surplus Center offers hose with your choice of male pipe or JIC female swivel ends. Kubota hoses for the B and L series machines are typically 3/8" R16 with JIC-08 swivel ends. You may find some of your OEM hoses have 90 or 45 degree JIC ends on them. You wont get those premade but you can use a 90 or 45 degree JIC male x female swivel adapter to achieve the same result. Adapters are $3 or $4 dollars each. Still way cheaper than custom made hose.

Thanks so much Dan. I was just looking at their catalog, and realized, I need to study up on hose ends. I've dealt with NPT most of my life, (I'm 75) but not familiar the JIC SAE designation. . And I love to two ended 90s to make my bends. Again. much thanks.

Discounthydraulichose.com and hoseandfitting.com can both make hoses with the correct 90 degree ends if you want to stay more OEM style. They will cost more. A local hose supplier is a possibility too.

Discount Hydraulic hose charges $10 labor to crimp plus parts and is the cheapest going. House brand R16-06 hose is $2/ft, import FJX-06-08 swivel end is $4 and import FJX90-06-08 swivel end is $8. A 6' hose with one short drop 90 and one straight swivel works out to $35 and change. My local Parker store would be double that or more.

JIC is just a 37 degree flare fitting and one of the most common types of hydraulic hose connector. Female swivels have a UNF thread and 37 degree female cone seat. Rigid male fittings have a UNF thread and 37 degree male tip. The male cone seals against the female seat and UNF threads make assembly and disassembly very easy. I avoid NPT if at all possible.

Actually I can go through a local Gates supplier and they beat Discounts prices but these usually take over a week to get as they are made up in Craig, CO. I replaced about 300' of hoses at work on a machine and they were about 30% cheaper than Discount. That being said, for my own use I usually go to Discount or Hose and fittings for the convenience of online ordering.

You are getting exceptional prices. My cost for 100' coils of 3/8" Gates M2T MegaFlex hose is $4.30/ft and that was after a lot of looking. Gates MegaCrimp hose ends are also 2X to 3X the cost of DHS's import U type fittings. Would you care to share the name of that Gates distributor because I would love to find a more cost effective source for Gates hose and fittings.

Applied Industrial Technologies. We do a fair amount of business with them so we probably get discounts you may not get. Can't hurt to try.

I have an account with Applied and you are right. I can't get your pricing or even pricing competitive with other much smaller industrial suppliers. They have two branches within 15 minutes of me and I only use them in emergencies. The local Parker store is usually cheaper, better stocked with hydraulic components, and a whole lot friendlier.

We have Purvis subsidiary supplier here that is just 4 or 5 blocks from the shop that we use for convenience
only that is double the price of others. Our Parker store is between those in prices but not conveniently located but I can get some pretty oddball fittings there that others don't stock. I work on CNC machine tools and often need DIN, JIS, BSSP, BSP, etc. Sometimes they can get me out of a bind. NAPA I think has the highest price in town. Made that mistake only once.

Hi Dan. Say, do the JIC fittings have any relationship with AN fittings.

One and the same - almost.

JIC is a Joint Industry Council specification and AN is a Army Navy military specification. AN specifies a very minor difference in the thread form and of course material and manufacturing certificatuons out the Whazoo. For general industrial use they are the same thing and in fact much of what is advertised as AN is really JIC and unsuitable for aviation or military use.

Hi guys. Well, I finally got time to pull a couple of hoses. They're 1/4" NPTM, that being said, not sure the swivel size. 4F JIC? The FEL lines at the bucket, are JIC both ends, 15" long. Surplus has em in 18", that should work. The lines from the controller to the FEL are 42", and are 1/4" NPT but swivel on the other. Surplus has 48" that would work, but I guess I'd have to use a swivel adapter. Any guidance?
