“Lately” is difficult to quantify, however in 2021 I paid about $10,500’ish installed. ( I’ll have to look to see if I can find the invoice)

Not sure if thats “late enough” for ya though….

MSRP for BH77 plus one bucket as an L2502 optioin is a bit over $11K. If buying ala carte I would expect no less and probably more.

Thank you Dan,

My unit was $8K 10 years ago. I should have bought a spare just for the hydraulics. Sticker Shock on the individual valves and the complete valve assembly for $6K.
And now I found a post on here from 2017-2022 with the same problem, but the valve bodies look different.
Not sure I have confidence in this lasting even after repairs with such little use and not being able to test each PRV.

My unit was $8K 10 years ago. I should have bought a spare just for the hydraulics. Sticker Shock on the individual valves and the complete valve assembly for $6K.
And now I found a post on here from 2017-2022 with the same problem, but the valve bodies look different.
Not sure I have confidence in this lasting even after repairs with such little use and not being able to test each PRV.

It might be helpful if you told us your actual problem. The port reliefs can be easily tested right on the machine.

I had this in the repair section earlier.

This in previously dug dirt they filled in with all sizes of rocks about 18" down. Nothing that hard.

Tractor sat in the barn all winter and first time out.

Boom was drifting down rapidly.

Then it lost power being able to bring boom in while digging, but it would push out away.

To get it out of the hole I raised stabilizers more emptied bucket by hand and then I could pull it up and lock it to travel to the barn.

After watching YOUTUBE about lower PRV - I moved the swing PRV to the Boom block and Boom PRV to the swing block.

Backhoe worked for 4 hours. I stopped for about 4 ours and came back. It worked for an hour and then boom totally went dead both ways. I emptied bucket by hand . With backhoe running put a bungee cord on valve handle to hold back position an took my other tractor bucket and easily lifted boom to be able to lock it in place and drove back to the barn.
*. There is now a minor amount of oil under the valves. None before switching valves.
It's been sitting in the barn for 2 days now.

Curious why the upper PRV is so much more than the lower one.

Stop switching relief valves. For one they are not all the same.

I told you in the other thread the reliefs could be tested in place. Why did you not follow that advice?

I do appreciate your responses. I'm not a tractor mechanic, but a good machinist. Bothers me that they don't sell any of the internal PRV parts and test them to know why they failed. From postings here others have had the same/similar problem.

Here is my rationale for my actions. I wanted to get this job done before the rains. And switching the valves became the quickest solution for now after calling 2 different Kubota dealers. 1 hour to switch valves.

I have 8 Kubota dealers/shops within an 1.5 hours of me now owned by 2 large corporations and none of the locations have any of the hydraulic valve components in stock. Not surprising any more based on prices of parts and reading posts the entire valve assemblies came from different companies over the years. Fortunately I don't rely on this for a business.

I called the closet dealer - 5 miles away and they wouldn't send a road tech to diagnose hydraulics in my barn but needed the tractor in the shop. Other dealer was willing to send a road tech in the following week. One is coming Monday afternoon if schedule works out, but with no parts. With a tech here I should be able to watch and learn - so more bang for my buck. $150/ hour from shop to back to shop 14 miles away.

I'll post back results after tech is here.

Honestly now on a fixed income with high parts prices are changing my mind set on do I really need the backhoe if the parts/repair are excessive. There is only 100 hours at most on the hoe and do I have confidence any more will go wrong with it based on Chinese parts. I can rent a mini excavator at our local farm store for $400/day ; cheaper by the week if I need it versus high repair costs.

My FnL used to have a tow behind backhoe 40 years ago. I hooked it up to my M6800 rear remotes and that thing dug like an SOB and we never had issues with it. Donated it to a young guy. Certainly not convenient as a TLB but it worked.

I would really like a used PRV to take apart if someone has one and check it out.

Unfortunately your situation is worse now than it was. I dint know what hapoened but the situation is a lot muddier now than it was. If you want to fix the hoe I will try to help but it will be step by step diagnosis.

There is nothing of interest inside the relief valves - just an orrdinary spring loaded poppet valve. Operation is explained in the WSM.
