I have a BH70 backhoe attachment I mounted to my old Ferguson tractor. The Ferguson have a pump mounted to the crankshaft up front. There is a remote hydraulic tank and a valve body mounted under the seat to operate the loader. So I think easy just T off the pressure and return lines and hook them to the BH70. What the heck the BH70 has 3 hoses. I hit up the local Kabota dealer he was not sure after searching manuals what the 3 hoses were exactly. He said probably for power beyond. Suggested connect the short hose T to the return. I did that and my bucket and lift rams will move slow yet have no force. My mast and dipper won't move at all. The swing seems to initiate movement yet won't move. HELP!!! Thanks in advance Kenny

Some more information
The BH70 has 2 hoses with female disconnects theones with the collar you pull back. These I assume are pressure and return hoses. The short hose has a male quick connect this is the hose I Teed into the what I assume is the return. I'm thinking the return. It comes off the BH70 on the left side of the BH70 valve body. Pressure comes off the left side of BH70 valve body. All this orientation is facing forward from drivers seat of tractor. Not from operators position of backhoe. Dang I hope someone can decipher all this and tell me how to hook it up. Possibly I have it correct and air I need the BH70? My loader works fine so it's not my pump.

OK I just thought of something could my pressure be just dumping straight through the valve body on the Ferguson? All I did was T off the pressure feed to the Ferguson valve body and T into the return hose to the tank. Am I going to need a separate valve or plumb this different?

Here is a scary thought I might have figured this out. Do I need to not T into my pressure hose yet run it directly to the BH70 then T the return hose into the tank and that petsty little short hose with the male disconect run it to my loader valve body. The fear I have if this is the case my loader will be slow because it has 1/2" lines the BH70 has 1/4" lines. If this is the case how do I keep my loader operating fast enough or will it not matter? I think I'm going to need a separate valve that I will have to actuate when I run the backhoe. Anyone follow all this. I'm not hydraulic engineer. Mechanic and truck driver by trade yet very little hydraulic experience.

Easy enough to do. The BH70 has a supply and power beyond hose. You hook the supply hose to the power beyond port on your loader valve and the BH70 power beyond hose to your hydraulic reservoir. The third hose is the backhoe's tank return line. You tee that into the tank.

Your main problm is the valves on the old self powered loaders typically dont have a power beyond port. A lot of people use the tank return for power beyond but that risks damage to your loader valve. We may need to put the BH ahead of the loader and feed the loader off the power beyond on the backhoe. What model Ferguson tractor? What make and model loader?

Post a picture of your loader valve showing the hoses going to the front pump and underseat tank. We need to figure out what the flow rate on the loader is to properly size the hoses. If you hdve an underseat tank the 1/2 inch hoses you currently have are probably bigger than needed.

Dan are the 2 hoses with the female ends on the BH70 supply and return and the short hose with the male end power beyond. This is assuming the BH70 is set the way it came from factory. I purchased this from an electrical contractor intending to put it on my little Kabota yet he would not give me the mounting frame so I figured I put it on the Ferguson. The mounting frame for the Kabota is super expensive from the dealer.

I would have to look at the manual to be sure which is which. You can also tell by looking at the ports on the BH70 valve. Are you going to make this a 3pt hitch mounted hoe?

No it is mounted to a frame that was added to the Ferguson. The whole loader on the Ferguson is home made very stout. I will post up pictures when I can.

In any event the plumbing is not complicated. Main thing is to determine if your loader valve is capable of power beyond operation. If not then the backhoe valve would feed the loader notcthe orher way around.

Yes that's what I thought after writing this all out. Sure be nice to know the location on the BH70 ports so I know what hose does what. That is the question now. Anyone have the answer?

Dan I will look at the valve stack on the Ferguson and see if there is a power beyond port. If not I may use the 3point hitch hydraulics to feed the BH70. The 3point is also home made and wount be used when the hoe is mounted this Ferguson is a model 20 if my memory serves well.

Non of the hydraulics are Ferguson its all home made

As in TO20? That's an oldie with very limited internal hydraulics. Same thing as a Ford 9N. Would not be suitable for your backhoe. No reason to not use the loader pump for this - vastly superior. Over the last 20+ years I have sold a lot of hydraulic pump upgrades for the N series.

the T at the top of picture is c the return to tank the T at the bottom is pressure from the pump.
