I am a new Kubota owner. Just picked up an 05 L3430HST c/w a BH 90 hoe on the back. This tractor only has 197 hours on it so it is like new and the hoe still has paint on the bucket!

My question: Is there a market for this backhoe? I already own a Yanmar mini-ex and think that if I part with it and keep this hoe I will be disappointed as I can do a lot more with the mini and a thumb than a TLB.
This hoe has an 18" bucket and no thumb.

How much grief to totally strip the hoe mount brackets as it seems to tie in with the loader as well?

Also what would a hoe like this be worth?

Thanks

Greetings from just south of you! :D

There is a limited market for the backhoe, and subframe.
If I had the money I'd take it off your hands, been needing a backhoe for a while!

I can't find any really good numbers to give you, you could cold call and find out what a dealer can get one for you for and that will give you some approximate value.

Thanks for the info. I'll call a few dealers this week. My only concern is that subframe. It looks the the L723 loader is connected into that. Would there have been pieces that stayed at the dealer because of the loader/BH combo?
If I sell the BH where would the rear loader mounts attach to? Thats my concern.

Pictures would be great, then I can compare to the subframe for just the loader.

The subframe may be and probably is unique to that model tractor. So that's going to decrease your ability to sell it because the buyer will need the same model tractor.

I honestly don't know how all the pieces fit together, but suspect the loader and backhoe have separate frame and support members: you'll just have to puzzle it out using a parts book.

There is a market for backhoes. In my area the backhoe unit alone would sell for $4,000-$5,000 range at private treaty and perhaps $1,500-$2,000 at auction. It all depends on the day...

You'll have to advertise widely and perhaps try eBay.

My bet is you'd do better to keep it and plan on hooking it up once a year to keep it lubed and getting your money back when you resell the tractor complete.

Please post back your experiences so we may all learn.

Here are some photos of the subframe assembly. Actually if you go to Messicks web page you can download the parts manuals for both loader and BH. It looks like the BH large steel frame pieces are replaced by smaller loader brackets. I dont think it would be that bad. I will also check with a parts guy to see if the brackets were model specifc or if it fits a range of tractors. Hope the pics came through ok photo 1.jpg

So this is what the Kubota service guy suggested

1. You will need 2 of the 7J26755313 sub frames and the mounting bolts. Kubota does show stock of them. Not many but they have. This replaces the BH90 subframe and makes the L723 loader securely attached to the back of tractor.
2. That BH90 will fit all L30 series tractors. If it is the BH90A backhoe it would fit – L30 series, L40 series, L4400, MX4700 & MX5100 but the mounting sub frames will be different.

Still not sure what to do but sales guy said new the BH 90 was about 8000.00 so used 5000.00 would be a good start.

Dealer sales talk is far from real values. If you doubt that go back to him and ask to trade your hoe for something of $5,000 value. He'll laugh!!! You won't get him to trade you something of $2000 value. Since it's needing brackets and they're not available any more the price is less.

Send Wolfman a PM, work out a deal with him. He can fab parts needed. He's not too far from you. You both win.
